We met the owner Giselle while we dined in her restaurant in Fitzroy at the beginning of this month. A very picturesque and authentic restaurant with beautiful Egyptian dishes. The parts were huge, like the dives. I was specifically taken with the tabbouleh, it was the best I ever tasted. We ate well and were treated very well. A wonderful experience.

The Stuffed Pepper is a true gem of a restaurant. It was the perfect venue for our Egypt Tour Reunion Dinner, a tradition we have kept since our trip in 2008. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, charming decor, and is clean and welcoming from the moment you step inside. It can accommodate both small and large groups. As you enter, there is a cozy area to the right with stools and benches where customers can enjoy a quick coffee while flipping through magazines. The back of the restaurant features a courtyard with lovely tables and umbrellas for those who prefer to dine outdoors. The menu, which offers authentic Egyptian cuisine, is diverse and has been curated by the owner using family recipes passed down from her parents. The food was outstanding, with a home-cooked flair. We started with a trio of dips, followed by stuffed vine leaves and falafel. We then indulged in a traditional soup with rice and noodles that our host prepared especially for us. We had a delightful conversation with our host Giselle about Egyptian cuisine and her recipe book, 'Eat Like an Egyptian.' Each of us ordered a different main course, and the portions were very generous, with the meat being incredibly tender. Despite the amount of food we enjoyed, the bill, which included alcohol, was quite reasonable. We are eagerly looking forward to returning and trying something new!
