I don't believe that most customers who dine at this Zambrero location near Melbourne University stay for a long time. It is a quick-service restaurant that caters well to the student clientele. There were three of us. My two tacos were served in soft tortillas with pork and a variety of fillings (guacamole, salad, classic Mexican pico de gallo, cheese, all topped with chipotle sauce). The result was tasty but the tacos were overfilled and difficult to eat cleanly. It might have been better to order fewer fillings. Zambrero, like many other Mexican restaurant chains in Australia, has an assembly line system for ordering and preparing food. A friend ordered a burrito and thought it was okay. Zambrero is a good choice for a cheap, simple snack but don't expect the same quality as you would find in smaller cafes in Mexico.
The burritos and nachos at this restaurant are absolutely incredible, and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients every day.

I don;t think that most customers eating at this Melbourne Uni branch of Zambrero spend very long there. Its a quick ordering, preparing and consuming sort of place that is well suited to the mainly student clientele. There were three of us. My two tacos were served in soft tortillas with pork and a whole host of ingredients (guacamole, lettuce, the classic Mexican pico de gallo, onions and god knows what else - all covered in a chipotle sauce). The end result is a couple of very tasy but massively overfilled tacos that are quite difficult and messy to eat. Perhaps it would have been more sensible to have ordered less fillings. This is easy since Zambrero, like many of the other small chains of Mexican-style restaurants in Australia, have an open, assembly line approach to ordering and preparing food. A colleague ordered a burrito and pronounced it OK. Zambrero is a good option for a cheap, easy snack and it doesn;t pretend to do much more than that. But don't imagine that you are sampling the kind of food that you can get on the sreets or in modest cafes in Mexico.
