Great food, distinctly Japanese décor, could upgrade their presentation but it would change their clientèle.

We recently dined at Zen Restaurant in Hawthorn and found the Japanese food to be quite good. We enjoyed the beautifully assembled bento boxes we ordered, although the sushi and sashimi were not top-notch, they were still decent. The takoyaki balls were a standout dish and made up for any shortcomings. The kids' meals were also good value. For dessert, we recommend the green tea and black sesame ice cream. The service was fast and polite, true to Japanese style. Overall, we left feeling relaxed and satisfied.

The lunch menu offers great value with good service and delicious food. The only drawback is the poor quality of the water, which tastes worse than pool water. Overall, it is a good option for a satisfying meal.
