After leaving Bacchus Marsh, George, Mrs. George, and even George Jr. took over the Melton Fish and Chip shop, giving it a bright yellow exterior and bringing their famous burgers and chips a bit closer to the Melbourne CBD. If you're a fan of the classic Aussie burger—similar to what you’d find at Embassy Taxi or the legendary Rustic Burgers in Seymour (now closed)—then this spot is definitely worth the trip or a detour down Melton's main street. Plus, the prices are incredibly reasonable; a Hamburger with the Lot at George’s is cheaper than a basic burger at many other places in the city. We enjoyed our burgers at the outdoor seating, and within about 30 minutes, I saw at least nine staff members from the local council and eight truck drivers come in for a meal. It must be good! Just look for the yellow storefront near the pedestrian crossing on the northern side of the street.
As an employee of this restaurant, I can say that the recent review claiming our fish was terrible and that a customer called and hung up is completely untrue. It appears that the review was posted from a fake account by someone who knows the reviewer and has a personal bias against our establishment. I encourage anyone with genuine experiences to share their thoughts honestly and help us promote our business.
