I was excited to bring my husband since I?m from Memphis and this was always one of my ?go to? restaurants close to home. We were provided one rice bowl with two orders of the chicken coconut korma. When we had finished the rice we sat for 30 minutes while our coconut korma sauce got cold, waiting on to-go boxes and more rice and naan. The lady passed by us several times not even asking us if we neededanything. Finally I stared her down to get her attention because she didn?t tell us her name. She brought the check without asking us if we needed anything, and when I finally asked for food she looked inconvenienced. I hate she ruined theexperience. It was only about 4 tables of people including us. Half the time she was standing at the front register doing nothing. One to-go box for two people after we asked for to-go boxes-plural. Like everything added up to be annoying.
Eating is always great. Your spicy dishes are better than their mild, so keep that in mind. Your naan is authentic, instead of garlic bread...
Spice is life. Great intimate food. You can choose your spice level. The aromas seem to do a little dance on your taste buds. There are great options...
Food and service was great! The interior is to be expected in an Indian restaurant. I was sad they didn't have a goat curry, but the chicken curry was great.
We used to go to Golden India fairly regularly, but since we moved further from midtown, we now often go to Bombay House. Last night we took a friend to Golden India because he lived nearby. We were all disappointed. the bad: pappadums were stale, lamb korma had practically no meat in it, basmati pilau rice tasted reheated, the vegetable dumpling dish was a jumbled mess. Worst of all was the chicken tika masala. The chicken was pink inside, and so tough, it couldn't even be cut. We told the manager, and her excuse was the chef had only started marinating it. She did not take it off our check. the good: bread did taste fresh. The final insult was gaining 2 1/2 #s from all the MSG. Never again!
