The Outpost - Menahga

We were forced off the road by the rain and sought shelter in the charming, retro bar. The service was prompt, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable.

I visited the Outpost for a meal on a Sunday after a morning of fishing, and had a somewhat mixed experience. On the positive side, the food was good for bar food, served hot and fresh. There wasn't a large crowd, and our food was prepared quickly, which was nice. The burgers were tasty - we enjoyed the Bonus Burger and the Mushroom Swiss (especially the breaded mushrooms). The patties were cooked well, but could have used more seasoning on the grill, in my opinion. The staff seemed more focused on chatting with each other and regulars, so we had to flag them down at the bar to place orders for food or drinks. The food was brought to our table, but we had to request drinks and the bill up front. The décor featured a lot of Trump and 2nd Amendment memorabilia, which is common in the northern area. They have dollar bills signed and stapled all over, which is a fun touch. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but I wouldn't go back unless I was in the area and hungry.

We always have a wonderful time and eagerly anticipate our visit to the Outpost. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the locals are welcoming.

Kind of an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Food is awesome Beer is cold. Great service. Fair prices. Looking forward to going back. Got to try the club with the homemade bread.
