Staff friendly polite and tried their best. The wines were good, but not excellent. The food was ok local trout from a lake on site. And then pork trout or beef for the head I had the pork that was in order with a local sweet potato that had a bitter taste. My partner had the beef fillet with tomatoes that was fine, but could have done with less of the tomato base. Dessert was a trio and was beautiful. The food could have been better.
This place is very special and from the beaten path. The food is absolutely excellent, the staff prepares everything in the morning or directly before you, and the wine pairing is excellent. The environment and background is stunning and the entire experience is a...must. I'd do it again and again.
We had four winery lunches in Mendoza and this one was the worst by miles. The lunch is a la carte, and there are four choices: three trout dishes and one beef. We had trout cooked in olive oil and garlic. The whole thing tasted...like rotted fish. Our volcano cake dessert was so overcooked the inside was dry as a bone. And the wine was mediocre. Also, be aware that this is a lovely patio but it's surrounded by trees that block what would otherwise be a stunning view of the Andes, but you can't see them at ALL from the restaurant.
It can be a little hard to find, but the restaurant at Atamisque a few hundred meters from the estancia and the vineyards is a terrific lunch option, if you have a car and a sunny day. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and...a handsome view of the Andes; shade trees offer cover from the sun. We enjoyed the trout and the steak, and a local wine and the fact that lunch was about half as expensive at several other high end vineyards. Highly recommended.
I was extremely pleased with the pairing 5-course lunch we had at Rincon Atamisque. Their wines are very good and they offer something unusual: trout. Bearing in mind most Mendocinos restaurants have parilla, this was a breath of fresh air. The winery, Atamisque, was founded...by the French and they keep to par with their old world counterparts. Not to be missed!
