I was initially confused by the negative experiences described by some customers, but I can honestly say that my own experience was very pleasant. The service was quick and the food was good. While I have eaten at better restaurants, I would definitely return to this place the next time I am in Merrickville. It's worth noting that I dined here in October when it was not busy, which may have contributed to my positive experience.
Would you be willing to pay $17.99 for poutine or $20 for a burger with no side? Well, those are the prices at the weekend at Harry McLean in the Hofcafé. The restaurant has cheap plastic chairs, no atmosphere, a limited and uninteresting menu, and the audacity to charge those prices! Needless to say, we decided to eat at the Yellow Canoe Cafe instead. The prices there were very reasonable. They had put creativity into their menu (the cured sweet potato soup was delicious) and the atmosphere was rustic yet charming.
We decided to eat and regret it on a recent trip from ottawa! the server wore no masks and there was no sanitizer to find. there were several large spin webs in the corner of the window and the place was...unless not to know whether the same rules are applied, should one go to their first darm reaction. be sure and stay away from this place, their wallet will also thank them!
On 3/20. august chose my man and I harry mclean’s pub hof to eat during our day trip to merrickville for lunch. we wore our face masks when we went into the courtyard, we were immediately impressed how far the exteriors were placed to ensure the physical division between the patrons. before we even settled down, one of the servers approached with a menu. he was closer than 6 meters away from us before we could walk away from him. we then noticed that the other server in the service was not wearing masks and not at least 6 feet away from the patrons. we have immediately informed our server our memory and left. we ate in yellow canoe cafe on their terrace where their server all masks carry and where the tables for the mozen were all a minimum of 6 feet away. we also saw how the server sanitated each table and the chair between the mozens. we were very impressed and will return to the yellow canoe cafe on our next day tour to merrickville.
We stopped here for lunch after going to the Merrickville Christmas Craft Fair. The food was excellent ! We were served very quickly and the presentation was lovely! This will definitely be a new favourite place to eat in Merrickville for me!!
