The coffeeshop is authentic in the way it is run probably not changed in 30 years including how the lady on the floor runs it. She has not been introduced to the modern device that helps calculate addition, thus causing her to be excruciatingly slow. We had to wait 20 minutes for her to serve customers, calculate the cost for many tables while the line just gets longer and longer. Perhaps she's just happy the way it is, but they do keep you waiting. The food is decent standard local fare like nasi lemak, mee hoon, roti bakar, eggs but they do have pastries like egg tarts and apple pies which are quite nice. If you're in a rush, head elsewhere. If you don't mind waiting for a table, waiting for service, waiting to pay, then here's a good place before you head to the Mersing jetty to go to the islands. While you're waiting, you can check out the back lane, take a few selfies then go back to wait some more. There are nice murals there probably drawn my customers as they waited for their turn...
Overrated. First time visited as high rate review in Google and other social media. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing dining experience with them. Despite there being a non-smoking sign in the restaurant, customers were smoking and the owner did not intervene. This made for an unpleasant atmosphere. Additionally, the lady (not sure staff or owner) attitude was quite poor and seemed to be lacking patience when it came to serving us and answering our questions. On the positive side, I found the food to be above average and the prices to be acceptable. However, the negative aspects of our visit made it difficult to enjoy our meal fully.
One of the last bastions of harmonious Malaysia. People of all races come here, no frills. Don't grumble is service is slow. Operators are elderly ladies. Toast and eggs, home made puffs, butter and banana cakes, but the gem people say is the traditional egg tarts. They even have cubicle seats.
Great Kopi Ais and interesting ambiance but that's all really. To old ladies are the only staff and they are too busy to listen to orders correctly and certainly too busy to prepare them correctly. If you dare to have the cheek to ask for what you actually ordered you will get the typical old lady bad attitude and if you're not Chinese you'll get cursed out too. I recommend you don't waste your time or money here, 30 minute wait for two over cooked eggs (hard boiled) and two nearly raw eggs. Our food was left uneaten and we went down the road to a different place instead. The kicker was the old men smoking underneath every no smoking sign.
