This is bits of chapatti?, seafood, onions, spices all mixed together and crammed into a metal bowl. It was tastier than it sounds and was ideal after a beer festival at the Sultan on Norman Road. I noticed a lot of starters at low prices (like 60p) in the display cabinet and I think this place would reward a few mates pretty much taking pot luck with unknown items. The gent serving was able to explain what a kothu was and would be able to help! The service was friendly and fast. Its about 7 mins walk to and from S Wimbledon on the Northern Line
A small café style setting but serves a huge range of good Sri Lankan food. Some of the snacks and appetisers and a couple of the main dishes are kept in the refrigerated display and nuked, but most of the main dishes come from the kitchen out the back. Can be a bit intimidating if you are not familiar with Sri Lankan. SL food is very spicy by nature, so for very mild on the curries which will get you something like a Karahi level. For a while when I was living locally this was the best for Masala Dosais in south London. Its very cheap and varied. The client base is by the looks of things mainly south Indian and SL. As someone with South Indian roots, I am always disappointed when I see Brits go in to a Sri Lankan place and order the more conventional North Indian and Bangladeshi curries. Be adventurous there is more to life than a tikka masala. It is a huge challenge to spend more than a tenner a head here.
Good, spicy Indian food, which is very, very cheap! Small place, but You can eat in, or take away. Definitely recommend!
Don't be put off by the canteen style decor or the incredibly cheap prices this Sri Lankan restaurant is one of my favourite places to eat and absolutely fantastic. The daily special thalis and especially the Friday version include a fantastic variety of food and are particularly great value. I'd also highly recommend the vegetable string hoppers. One note of caution by default the food is very spicy let the staff know if you would prefer your food to be milder.
We ordered two Keerai Pittu, which came with a side of fried fish, fish curry, and coconut sambol. The food arrived promptly, was warm, and the customer service was friendly!
