Feedback gevenFor New Year's dinner, we decided to just book a table in this restaurant. They do have set menus good for 12 and with different price options. The set menus are a good deal because of the good discount . We ordered the set B , and just added an additional order of Yang Chow fried rice. When we wanted to add another noodle dish, but the manager offered to add it on the house ! Serving size is if course good for sharing and we had plenty of left overs for take out even when we had our fill. Service is very good.
I lived many years in China, know and absolutely love genuine Chinese cuisine and review restaurants with focus on authentic dishes and taste. Thus place lookslike a real midrange sichuan restaurant in China, bears the red chili in its name. The menu looks great, dishes look like in China, not like in other Filipino places. Service was good, waitress fast and friendly.I ordered some standard dishes, egplant, sliced beef and bullfrog in pepper and beans with pork meat.Bad surprise, they DO NOT use the original sichuan pepper, just bitter, not ma-la. For an upscale sichuan restaurant this is an absolute nogo! Also it needed 3 employees to even fund out what pepper they use, thy are not aware of differences. The frog was ordered super spicy, it was not spicy. The leat old or wrongly cooked, hard to pull down from the bones, no any taste, these bullfrogs were definitely wasted. Shame on you, cook of Modern Sichuan! The egplant was too soft, ovecooked and not fresh, also no taste. The sluced beef came really spicy, just as ordered. But without sichuan pepper. The bean wuth pork meat was not too bad, a bit too soft but still acceptable. The food quality doesnt live up to the expectations the pictures in the menu create. Poor taste, missing andcreplaced ingredients, the cook has obviously poor knowledge of Chinese food.Again a wasted opportunity to open a genuine Chinese restaurant. Maybe it is the Filipino mentality, no attention for details what makes the result just bad.Prices are high, location is expensive, best place for quality, unfortunately not delivered. For someone who doesn't know how the taste should be, it might be a highlight, for the authentic Chinese food lover it is just disappointing and bad.
The best Kung Pao Chicken, Uni Fried Rice and Duck Ham i every tried, I can never get my family to eat in a restaurant because I daresay, we cook most dishes quite well at home. But for some reason, no one complains when I want to eat here. The food in SICHUAN is always cooked-well and tastes as though it was prepared with the freshest ingredients. Fried dishes never have that rancid taste that you get when old oil is used. I always order the Lobster with noodles in cheese Sauce and the Duck Ham Yummy. I think a lot of people agree with me, as it is always full.
Honestly, your options for family style round table Chinese food in the Fort is limited. There used to be a spot on high street, but it closed down and was broken into 3 Japanese restaurants owned by the same restaurant group. Then there's Mann Hann and Hap Chan, but still not really good for functions or families to eat or linger. My family and I go here whenever we need some Chinese food. The food is decent. The service is fast. We usually order of the promo menu. It's a lot of fun and everything comes up out in literally minutes. Upstairs and downstairs there are also private rooms that you can use. It's also kid friendly with special plates and cups for them as well as high chairs. We come here from time to time when we have visitors. It was also my last meal out before my son was born. I was trying to eat spicy food to get him out.
The food was average at best. A big disappointment! Can't recommend going here. It also wasn't that inexpensive.
