One of the most beautiful dining room you could dine in a picturesque town. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived to the very end. We didn’t have to wait for long to be seated or served at all as some of the comments mentioned here. The food was good and the set menus are affordable for a venue like this. We loved it and definitely recommend it.
Stayed here for three nights to visit the wine area. Good location and a lovely village. Room was very good and spa also nice. However overall this hotel needs a lot of work to be classed as 4 star. Worst of all was the restaurant and restaurant staff in the evening. Reception staff very helpful. Food is ok but almost no choice with just two set menus. We wanted wine and asked for recommendations and were told "they are all good!". Breakfast had nothing hot except a boiled egg which you had to cook yourself. Fruit was poor and you even had to get your own tea/coffee! No lift and towels for the spa were not provided after the first night unless you asked. The real problem seemed to be lack of staff all round. Stay here but avoid eating there, much better food in the village.
This is the first time I have found myself complaining about terrible service but in the end not blaming the staff but blaming the owner. We had to stand 5 minutes at the entrance to the restaurant waiting for the head waiter to show us to the table. We felt ignored. We sat 10 minutes while nothing happened. We were then given menus. We ordered some water while we studied the menu. We waited another 10 minutes for the water to return. The menu proudly announced "a daily menu" chosen by the best daily produce which was then not available. We ordered our meal and wine. A person came to the restaurant entrance in casual clothes and stood for about 5 minutes like we did. He spoke to two tables and then came to us. He asked if everything was ok. I said I thought the service was very slow and we had not had our wine yet. The glasses had arrived but not the wine. He went away and we never saw the gentleman again. Over the course of the meal we realised that we were not being singled out -everyone was having to wait. The reason was simple. There was two staff : a head waiter and a waitress who had to meet, greet, answer queries, sort the bills, take the money, select the wine and serve food and wine with explanations. Clearly something had to give. The sixteen diners needed patience in abundance. The kitchen also did not help the two restaurant staff. They plated up two tables at the same time- impossible to serve five hot dishes to two separate tables. So one table were served while the other watched impotently as their food cooled whilst the head waiter explained each of the plates. At the end I asked the head waiter who the gentleman was. It was the owner. I trust the owner will reply as to why he thinks it acceptable to have 2 staff serving 16 covers at what purports to be fine dining.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at La Cueillette! The chateau is lovely and the dining room really feels like something special. The service was impeccable and the food was wonderful.
