Incredible Italian food and wonderful service, available for dine-in, carryout, or delivery, for Fisher Island Club members and hotel guests.
They have redecorated the place while managing to retain its authentic charm, adding a modern touch for the next generation. This is evident all over the property, especially at the spa, which has been completely renovated, and in the mansion itself, where you can find both cozy corners and brighter spaces. One of the conveniences here is the close proximity to various amenities—just a 2-minute walk to the beach, spa, or dining options at the mansion, which serves as the hotel's centerpiece. You also get a golf cart that allows you to explore the island within five minutes. There are pools available at both the hotel and the spa, and the inviting white-sand beach wasn’t crowded even on a sunny Sunday. The best time to enjoy the beach during the summer is in the last two hours of the day when most guests have left. The food at the hotel was quite good; I had excellent dinners at the mansion's Garwood and the Porto Cervo Italian restaurant at the marina. Breakfast at the Beach Club was decent, though not as impressive. Price-wise, the food is subsidized, making it a privilege to enjoy high-quality meals at reasonable prices, especially considering the daily membership fee paid by hotel guests. There's also a well-stocked market where you can find newspapers, ready-made baked goods, take-out food (the homemade bakery items are fantastic), and groceries, which makes it much more convenient than being on the mainland where you would have to hunt for supplies. On summer weekends, the island feels almost deserted, allowing you to enjoy a tranquil atmosphere. For instance, there were only about a dozen diners at Garwood on Friday night, and the ambiance was enhanced by a live pianist on weekends. A convenient ferry service, running every 15 minutes and taking just 10 minutes from the mainland, adds to the ease of access. The aviary remains open for the birds to enjoy, but the observatory appears to have been closed due to COVID and hasn’t reopened yet (I wonder when they will get a clear night for stargazing). The gym is excellent, featuring a wide range of equipment (though they could use a bicep and tricep extension machine), and the spa is luxurious and well-equipped with skilled therapists. I found the staff to be friendly and approachable; despite being in a wealthy environment, the guests seem to be genuine and kind. The hotel attracts a diverse mix of guests and residents from around the world, and you often hear languages other than English being spoken. Families with children have begun to settle in, and the local day school is expanding to include a high school and a new gymnasium. I noticed several families at the hotel, but keep in mind that the pool starts at 4 ½ feet and is not child-friendly, so if you have kids, you might want to bring floaties. This was a significant issue for us a decade ago when our children were not yet swimming, and it contributed to our decision to seek out other resorts, causing this place to slip from our minds. The management has been aware of this issue for over ten years but seems unwilling to change it. From what I understand, becoming a member here costs about $350,000 if you purchase property, along with an annual fee of about $50,000 to maintain your membership. For someone earning $2 million a year and living in New York, that’s a good deal—trading one year’s worth of income tax (approximately $300,000) for a rather nice lifestyle. Most individuals here don't spend the majority of the year on the island. For the best value, you can opt to pay $150 a day towards membership while staying at the hotel for the 10-20 days a year you might wish to visit.
This is absolutely the best hotel I've ever stayed in! Employee Stephanie was one of the kindest people I've ever encountered. The rooms are spotless, and all the staff members were friendly and provided excellent customer service. Thank you, Fisher Inn—I'll be visiting every chance I get! Kudos to your outstanding customer service and great hospitality!
This is the best Italian restaurant in Miami, and truly one of the best in the city overall. You absolutely have to try the Veal Parmesan—it's incredible! It resembles a small pizza and is hands down the best I've ever had. The Branzino and Dover sole are consistently fantastic as well. If I could give this place six stars, I definitely would!
