He ordered the traditional Haitian dish, griyo, and I got the coco loco shrimp; we both got rice and beans, plantains, pikliz. I highly suggest the conch fritters. At Manjay, the conch fritters are the best we've ever had! The pikliz was on point and brought some nice heat to spice everything up. Both theservice and food were excellent. The Citadel has a cool vibe and a nice variety to choose from. Manjay Restaurant is a great little culinary gem that you don't want to miss.
Delicious! We visited today and can?t wait to go back already. We tried the mofongo appetizer which was perfect as well as the Coco loco shrimp and the avocado toast and we would get everything again!
This Caribbean restaurant is anything but traditional! Their tagline is modern Caribbean cuisine and this food is just that. It actually tasted more like a fusion of cuisines. This may be due to the fact that the Caribbean is filled with various culinary influences from colonization. For example, the Jerk Chicken and coconut rice was reminiscent of an Asian inspired dish where it felt like I should be eating it with chopsticks. This wasn't the Jamaican-style jerk chickenI'd grown up on that is coated in spices and slow-cooked over a fire or grill. It was breaded and flavored more like a Caribbean General Tso chicken. However this is quality food made fresh daily. Only prepared when ordered. The bowls comewith two sides which is a good portion and value. I also found these dishes to have a bit of kick to them for those who may not be as tolerant of spice. Overall your taste buds will thank you for you inviting them on this flavorful journey.
The conch fritters are a must whenever I’m in the citadel. The bowls are also very good the jerk sprouts are a really good addition to the menu. Definitely my favorite spot in this food
