Today, Boathouse provided catering for a lunch at my husband's workplace. I was able to enjoy some of the delicious leftovers and I must say, I was very impressed. The salads were filled with fresh veggies and homemade mozzarella, and the mostaccioli was phenomenal. The food was top-notch and I highly recommend trying it out for yourself.
I am at a loss for words... absolutely terrible. I ordered chili, which was supposed to be homemade, but I couldn't even identify the red substance in the cup. It definitely wasn't chili. The Chicago-style Polish sausage I ordered was white and mushy, as if it had been soaked in water or overcooked. To top it off, the owner refused to take responsibility for the awful food I received. I will never return and have warned others about the terrible service and food. 0 stars.
My husband believes that these are the best burgers in town. The Chicago dog I had was truly amazing. I deducted one star only because it seemed like the warmer wasn't on for very long. My hot dog was cold, not just from the toppings, but the inside was cold too. However, I eat leftovers cold every day, so accidents can happen. Despite this, it was still delicious and not a deal breaker. I will definitely be returning.
My friend ordered the Frisco burger. Supposed to have thousand island dressing. If there was any it was very little. I ordered cole slaw after being assured it was house made. It was just minced cabbage drowned in a corn syrup-y sweet liquid. It was a 3 ounce portion for 1.99. You order at the counter, pick up your own food, and at checkout they want a tip? There are plenty of other lunch options in downtown Michigan City so we won’t go back here.
