There was just one staff member who was the bartender. We sat at a corner table near the bar, but she was mostly tending to the 4 patrons at the bar. They were discussing some local recommendations and generally making small talk. My husband went to the bar and picked spirits to taste including various rums, whiskey, and gin. As expected, the rums were the better options. I went with the blueberry mojito which was full on tarty and didn't have any sweet relief. I would ask for strawberries to be added if you like a sweeter drink. The blueberry rum and actual blueberries, which I believed were muddled, were too much for me. The larger room next to the bar had high top tables and lots of games. Just before we were heading out, a musician was setting up. Depending on your vibes and the time of day, this place could be what you're looking for.
Such a cute place! When we went they were out of some items but the drinks were delicious! You wouldn't really know from the outside!
We spotted the sign for this place while heading back to our lodging and decided to give it a try. It was a quiet afternoon, so we were the only patrons there. This allowed for very attentive service. We sampled several liquors; I particularly enjoyed the barrel-aged rum and the toasted coconut rum. My wife liked the rums as well but was especially taken with the bourbon and rye whiskey. After trying out a few options, she ordered an Old Fashioned and claimed it was the best she’d ever had. It was made with muddled orange and sour cherries in juice, blended with bitters, whiskey, and a splash of soda. The ice cube was impressively large, with an orange slice and a cherry frozen inside, which infused additional flavors as it melted. We ended up purchasing three bottles, although we were disappointed to find that two items we wanted were out of stock.
We visited this restaurant for a bachelorette weekend, and it was an amazing experience. Rita welcomed us the moment we arrived and encouraged us to sit at the bar. She is much more than just a bartender; she's an exceptional mixologist. Rita has a talent for pairing various liquors with unique ingredients and even created new cocktails on the spot. This place is a must-visit for a fun and different experience!
The drinks are fantastic! You can tell there was a lot of thought put into the bar’s offerings: it features the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had. It all begins with an ice cube infused with fruit, followed by a delicious whiskey that truly impresses. I even took home a bottle of BackBay Straight Bourbon Whiskey. I'm still trying to recreate that special ice cube at home!
