But I like give a soul food restaurant an opportunity it has the clientele in the area. All they have to do is put their ego aside and perform. Judging from the owner response the review she's not there yet. And the complaint about the prices is always a problem in soul food restaurants. I hope they change their attitudes and prices. Or else back to the Mexican and Chinese restaurants where the prices are fare and customer services is professional. And they value the customer. I don't see Bee's lasting long in the future. High prices poor customers services is enough to sink any restaurant
This place has potential. I was visiting Middletown for the weekend. Walking in, the place smelled smokey--like cigarettes, not smokey food. That made me nauseous. The floor was sticky, and my shoes were sticky, leaving the place. The place was very dark; I like seeing what I eat. We could only view the menu online; I want a hard copy menu when I visit a restaurant. I don't like to use my phone. They were going to close for renovation, and their menu was limited, but the hostesses didn't tell us this. We were already seated and received our drinks; otherwise, I would have left. The portions of food were large. My friends and I ordered lobster mac cheese, chicken waffles (only wings because the menu was limited), mashed potatoes, mac cheese, greens, sauteed spinach, green beans, and potato salad. The food was just okay. I expect soul food to be very flavorful. To me, it tasted like Boston Market. My friend said the food tasted like her mom's cooking, but I wouldn't pay for that. I felt nauseous and was still hungry at the end of the night, and I bought myself something to eat from somewhere else. Lastly, my friend bought a banana pudding to take home, and there were no bananas in it!Parking: Free 4-hour limit public parking lot.
To put it briefly — please give this place a try! My mom, my best friend and I tried this place for the first time, and we enjoyed! The food (especially, the macaroni and cheese, potato salad, and yams) was DELICIOUS! The food was served hot. It was flavorful. The service was good, no issues there. Just overall, it was a pleasant experience and I will be back!
I came to this establishment multiple times and I never get a warm welcome. They will literally stare at you till you walk all the way in and choose your chair. The customer service is terrible waitress and Bartenders. A lot of Parking in the area and the place is definitely cute. The food was okay and the drinks are over priced and under made. With prices like that I’m expecting a delicious cocktail.
I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. The atmosphere is cozy but on a regular night, I'm sure it'd be borderline suffocating. I ordered Honey Garlic Wings (1st pic) which was 8 pieces for $15.50. Was kinda expensive since it came with no sides, tasted like straight honey, and had a texture as though they partially cook the chicken in a batch and just reheat it. I also ordered the Honey Siracha fries (2nd pic) which was disappointing since it was just fries with seasoning. It'd be better if they coated it with some type of spicy sweet dip or put it on the side. My company ordered the lobster Mac cheese (3rd pic) which was deliciouuus, but the Honey Asian wings just tasted they threw sweet chilli sauce on it. I'm not saying the wings were disgusting, just not as advertised and could've been better prepared. I'm curious about how the seafood tastes though so I may come back again. Oh, also most of the dishes come with a flower... don't eat it?.. it's just for the aesthetic
