I tried the 3 meat plate and was impressed - the brisket was excellent, the ribs were outstanding, and the brisket mac and cheese was amazing! I returned two weeks later and had the best ribeye sandwich of my life, with truffle fries on the side. This place has been in business for over 20 years for a reason - the food and atmosphere are top-notch! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great BBQ in Texas.
Don't bother reading reviews that are less than 5 stars, this restaurant serves delicious food that is hard to come by. If you want to complain about portion sizes or the way brisket is cut, go to McDonald's. The food here is top-notch, including the brisket, sausage, and Mac. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommend this fantastic local spot in Midland.
The BBQ at this restaurant seemed to have been reheated from a previous day or two. The meat tasted old and not fresh, especially the brisket which my companion and I both agreed was not good. I specifically requested moist brisket, but the proprietor insisted it was all moist. However, the brisket was cubed rather than thinly sliced and served in broth in a basket, which did not meet my expectations of moistness. Some pieces of point in the brisket were noticeably more tender, but the fat seemed to be old. The pulled pork, labeled as such on the menu, was not pulled but rather cut into chunks and served in broth. Both meats were topped with BBQ sauce, which did not add any flavor for me, as I prefer my brisket without sauce. On the positive side, the baked beans were good enough to eat again, while the coleslaw was unique with craisins mixed in, which I enjoyed but others may not. Overall, the restaurant was clean but a bit hard to locate.
Decent flavor, small portions. The meal you see in the pictures cost $31. I ordered online and left a $5 tip totaling $36. I really expected more for this cost. My 3 meat plate consisted of 4 tiny chunks of brisket(I’ve never seen brisket chunked before), a very small and dry leg quarter and some sausage. The Mac and cheese seemed to be just plain pasta with cheese sauce poured on it, you can see in the pic. The sides were tiny! Three spoonfuls, and the Togo box is really small I guess to make it look bigger? Then the dessert was just barely any in the bottom, I mean just enough to cover the bottom of the box.For this cost I really expected more. Maybe because he thought it was a DoorDash order they were stingy on portions? Flavor wasn’t bad overall, but it’s not worth the cost. I won’t be back.
Just ordered a 2 meat plate and the lady turned around and began warming the meat up on the griddle so I asked and then the owner chimes in to tell me that the meats fresh off the grill! Now I'm not a Grand pit master but fresh off the grill would imply that the meat should be piping hot to the point of maybe letting it cool down to eat but not the case they had to reheat it. Not good at all! Never going back! Not recommended. I wouldn't feed it to a dead dog! Who serves brisket chunky? It's either sliced or chopped, not chunked.
