The Hard Shell Bellgrade - Midlothian

We have eaten at this restaurant multiple times, but we have noticed a decline in the quality of the food during our recent visits. During our most recent visit, the truffle fries were very greasy and undercooked. We went for brunch, and I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was small, overcooked, and of poor quality. It cost $25 and was not worth it. The mimosas were served in a water glass with ice, which was disappointing. I understand that restaurants are facing challenges, but they need to improve. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience.

This was our first time dining at Hard Shell, and I must say, it was very good. At one point, the lights went out and it seemed like no one knew what had happened. Then, there was a man seated right behind us who had a seizure, and the staff didn't seem to know what to do. Thankfully, two men who appeared to have medical experience came to his aid. I told the waitress to call 911 as she would know the details of the restaurant. It was unsettling to witness, but the local EMTs arrived quickly and took him to the hospital. Despite the chaotic start, the food was delicious when it finally arrived.

It would be unfair for us to review the restaurant based on our experience this evening, as it was impacted by factors beyond the restaurant's control. The performance was disrupted for over 30 minutes, affecting the kitchen's ability to serve meals smoothly. Additionally, a loud guest disturbed the atmosphere and a medical emergency occurred. Despite these challenges, we hope to give the restaurant another chance in the future.

It was my daughter’s birthday. The service was ok. Sometimes our server seemed inattentive. He didn’t introduce himself or come to take our order for awhile. We had to ask another server to find him so we could order entrees. Overall he was nice and brought my daughter a free dessert for her birthday. The food was excellent as always. We sat in the back room and it was very noisy. We could hardly hear our own conversation.

Generally it's just kinda loud in there. Took a really long time to take our order. It's not awful, just not really worth it when you're spending $150 for 4 people.
