Overall, I've always enjoyed Grilly's, so it was disappointing to witness the behavior of their manager tonight. In the last six months, I've encountered problems with them closing early. Several times, I would drive up with my family for dinner only to find the restaurant closed before the posted hours. Their sign said they were open until 9 PM, but when I mentioned this to the manager, he insisted I was mistaken and claimed the hours had changed without being updated on the door. I even pointed it out to him, and he seemed shocked. On one occasion, I arrived around 7:50 PM and was told they were closed because business had been slow. This approach doesn't seem like a sustainable business model if they want customers to dine there. I believe their new closing time is 8:30 PM, but they've closed early multiple times—once at 7:40 PM and another time at 7:30 PM. When I raised this with the manager, he said they couldn't justify staying open during slow periods. I understand it's their choice, and the inconsistency in their hours has led me to call ahead more often. Tonight, I walked in at 7:30 PM, saw the manager, and was relieved they were still open. When I mentioned I was glad to catch them before closing, he insisted they never close early and that he had cameras to prove it. I told him I had experienced closures before, but when he pressed me for specific dates, I admitted I hadn’t kept track. He then called me a liar to my face, telling me not to lie and to "be a man." I couldn’t believe his reaction. It's baffling that a restaurant manager would communicate with a customer this way. He wasn't even present when those earlier closures happened, and I hadn’t brought it up again. I'm sharing this review to reach the owner, just in case you're curious about how your manager is interacting with customers. It seems you have someone in the hospitality business who shouldn't be in the hospitality business anymore. As a business owner myself, I would never call someone a liar, even if I had doubts. It’s a disappointing experience for me, but I refuse to be disrespected by a manager who wasn't even there. Treat others the way you wish to be treated, and for the record, I genuinely don’t have the time or energy to lie about this. I’m not entitled; I just accept their hours, whatever they may be. But being called a liar, especially without knowing the facts, is unacceptable. Assumptions can make a fool of anyone.
We enjoyed two different veggie burritos, and both were delicious. One featured sautéed tofu, rice, and cheese, while the other was packed with fresh vegetables, Spanish rice, and beans. We will definitely have these again, as the veggies were exceptionally fresh!
We absolutely love Grilly's! The food is fantastic, and the staff are wonderful! We've been dining here for over 20 years and plan to keep coming back. Their burritos and salads are both excellent! I highly recommend this place!
Best tacos of my life. The service was fast and friendly. And the shop was right next to Muir Woods. The perfect stop for an after hike lunch.
Can I do zero stars? I guess I 'll find out. Rude, awful service. This place will be closed soon based on my experience and the reviews I just read. Nope. Yelp forced me to give a star. I guess that 's how they 're rating is as high as it is. I told them I 'd give them a bad Yelp review and they just don 't care about customers or the community so just don 't frequent them and they 'll close because they should
