Decoration is much better with new owner. The food is okay. Not the best. Good for wedding or events from 150 to 200 people.
This place used to be a good Vietnamese restaurant, but unfortunately Mr. Chi Dinh Ta, the 66-year-old, apparently killed 4 relatives of his wife and the restaurant changed hands. The decor was black and white and gaudy. They probably rent it for weddings. It has a stage and a bar and two large rooms. Everything is dark, black and tawdry. Our Meetup group went there for a Melanin Comedy Club venue in this restaurant tonight. It didn't seem to be anyone responsible, the staff was overworked, 3 servers, 1 barman, served about 100 people inside. Service was very slow, there were about 5 menu choices overpriced and greasy carbs, for happy hour snacks not a dinner menu. I paid $17 for two tacos with canned salsa and carburized meat, 2 tablespoons of rice and beans. It wasn't dinner. Exceptional prices. Margaritas were each $16 from a can, not even salt around the rim or fresh piece of lime! No cutlery, no napkins, no organization for serving or billing or ordering. Absolute chaos in the kitchen. This is not the fault of the servers, but the new owners. On stage, the speakers lit some ugly music until we became deaf. There was a strobe light on the floor of the stage, which in each 's face do not stop all evening their version of a disco ball. The microphone went in and out during use. The volume was blowing loud and my nerves were scattered at the end of the evening. No one seemed to be responsible in this restaurant / venue. You need a spoon. You need water, go to the kitchen and find a glass. You need volume turned around, go to the DJ type ask him 3 times, but nothing is adjusted. It was REALLY LOUD, and we couldn't talk to friends. After an eternity of the spirit that tumulted for music, the show began. The comedians released a stream of professionalism that was shocking. It wasn't funny. They insulted women, school teachers, disabled people in a wheelchair and every second word was an explective. The use of the N word is always NOT ok, even if used by black comedians who said "We are all N s ". It's not a black audience and we didn't jump out of the ghetto. My ears are still hurt and feel abused. One of our groups was hidden in the toilet of women who escaped this insulting and angry monologue. She couldn't take it either! We came here to relax and laugh, not to despise, to humiliate, insulted, and stressed with the loud volume, scattered lights in our faces all night, and an angry disorder for comedy. When the star attraction of Indian comedians, Kabir Singh of AGT fame, finally came to 4 comedians, he was hammered. We had seen him drink a lot before. Wow! We've paid money for this alcoholic deceiting on stage? His timing was out, his eyes were glazed, he disappeared his words, forgot his headlines and was a great embarrassment. I went out after two minutes. Enough is enough. That was an ordeal.
Large airy restaurant in a small stripe shopping center right in front of Calaveras. It was practically empty, so Covid Distancing is just fine. Large banquet seat 4 light. The cube steak was perfectly cooked with sweet onions on a bed of salad. The spring rollers were large and interchangeable, 6 on a plate. The peanut sauce was very good, dark and mild with great taste. Not as peanut butter texture as many. The server was very nice. I asked if they stayed open and she wasn't sure how long. You usually made big parties and parties? explains the huge dance floor? But given the restrictions? I get little business.
I don?t know the name of this dish (I call it sour fish hotpot). I have cravings for it from time to time.
