The food was neither fresh nor hot. I do not plan on returning to this location. However, on a positive note, the car wash service was good.
The service at the Derry Thomson Milton location of (A&W) is terrible. The night shift staff is very rude to customers, and the wait times at the drive-thru are long. Most of the time, the food is cold. The night shift staff also speaks in their own language, which is unprofessional. I have had a bad experience on both of my visits to this location.
The drive-thru service was extremely slow and when we got home, we discovered part of our order was missing. However, the woman we spoke to was very kind and helpful, providing us with a replacement order and even upgrading what was missing. Unfortunately, we had to go back to the restaurant. Later that evening, my boyfriend went in for food and customers were leaving, claiming the food was contaminated. The staff were advising them not to eat there. This was very concerning, especially since we had eaten there earlier in the evening. It was disappointing, as we typically love A&W.
A&W has built its reputation on its root beer and its family of burgers. This particular location is not actually a stand alone restaurant and is more of a kiosk inside the Petro Canada gas station at the corner of Derry Road and Thompson across the street from the CIBC. There is not a lot of parking and while there is a small dining area with a handful of tables inside, the place is really designed for you to order take out or hit the drive through. The food is pretty much the same sort of fast food options you would get at a McDonalds, Wendy’s, Harvey’s or Burger King and does little to really separate itself from the other fast food giants. One thing that they do very well is their onion rings, and obviously their root beer. Popped in on a Thursday evening on the way back from kids karate and got a buddy burger, 3 chicken strips, an order of fries, an order of onion rings and two chocolate milks which came out to just over $20. Not exactly cheap. Service is what you would expect at any fast food place teenagers making $14 bucks minimum wage counting down the minutes till their shift is over. If you go in expecting the same table service you would get at a sit down restaurant, you are in the wrong place! It’s a fast food joint in a gas station!
I've stopped going here because they can't get an order right to save their lives. It's a shame because A&W had been my favourite fast food place because of the rootbeer. It's clear there is little to no management here and nobody pays attention to what they're doing. Not to mention the staff are rude and don't bother with even simple hellos or thank yous.
