My friends meal had to be sent back three times until they were both ready to be served . We asked to speak to the manager and was told he was too busy he then gave us a discount on the bill. The manager refused to speak to us completely ignore us which was so very rude . The whole experience was such a let down as this restaurant was recommended I wont be going back in a hurry.
After experiencing cooking my own tender steak on hot Volcanic rock there is only one bad point I can say about this place and it was just one server that let them down. Reviewing Molten 's Mediterranean Restaurant: The food was delicious, all but one of the waitstaff were helpful, genuine and polite, and worthy of a tip. We had the entire dining hall to ourselves for a big party of ten for my mother in law 's 70th birthday. Food was served promptly, hot, and without error. We stayed for coffee afterward and it was here things took a turn. Sitting in the lounge area afterward, the main waiter, maybe a manager, I don 't know, served us coffees. I asked the female waitress who took the order if I could have a decaf mocha with oat milk (because I 'm allergic to coffee and milk) and she said it was no problem. This waiter, who 'd been a bit disingenuous when serving us dinner, returned with our hot drinks and announced an oat milk mocha. I asked because I always like to check before putting something into my body that could harm me if it was decaf. He said no, they didn 't do decaf and looked at me like I was an idiot. I felt embarrassed in front of my entire family but knew that the waitress before had said that was fine. I sent it back and he didn 't even apologize. Also, the bill was wrong. My poor father in law had to spend at least twenty minutes getting this same guy to remove items two bottles of expensive wine to be exact from the bill. I 'm not sure if they charged for my mocha coffee but I hope not. I didn 't think to check. Overall, most of the staff are great, the food is excellent if a little expensive. They don 't serve decaf coffee or so the rude waiter told me, speaking to me as if I 'm an idiot for asking for decaf but the place is well decorated, I guess? Would return but would check the bill meticulously and wouldn 't dare ask for decaf coffee. Did enjoy cooking my steak. And would also say that the vegetarian meals should be larger. My boyfriend is a man, not a mouse. Oh, and when I called up before to ask about allergies for the menu, they were very kind and helpful and went out of their way to email me the menu and a list from the chef of all the things I was safe to eat. So this is why they get a four out of five, not a three.
Impressive service, food and decor. We were amazed by the quality, presentatio, service, decor, garden very nice And as we were locals, we had even offered £15% of food and drinks, on presentation on our proof of address. Bonus. Well done to the amazing team I had one of the best fish and chips too
I booked for afternoon tea for a treat for a friends birthday. 1 week before we were due to go, I called the venue to enquire whether they did vegan afternoon tea, to be told they did and their vegan cakes were delicious. This was very good news, so I changed the booking to be for one vegan and one standard afternoon tea. A week later, my friend and I went to the Mercure, were seated and about 3 minutes later were presented with our afternoon tea display. I asked the waiter what the vegan options were. He looked confused and said ‘ahh, you are a vegetarian’, so I pointed out I was vegan and that I had called one week ago to make this known and was told this wasn’t a problem. He went to the kitchen and returned with 3x roast veg finger sandwiches, and told me the top tier of our platter should be ok, as they only contained butter! So I had to explain vegan meant no dairy.. The waiter again went off to speak to the kitchen and this time returned with a slice of chocolate torte that had been chopped into squares and was told this was vegan and could he help with anything else. 3 finger sandwiches and a slice of torte in my opinion doesn’t constitute afternoon tea. But for some reason the kitchen and the waiter thought this was acceptable. So I asked if there were any other options as I was not only really disappointed as the surprise for my friend was turning into an embarrassing shambles, but also disappointed that I had called to pre order a vegan tea and was told it was available! Clearly it wasn’t. After many visits to and from the kitchen, I was given a plate of other sandwiches and veg samosa and was told they were sorry but they had no other cake options. But that was something at least. By this point we had been there over half an hour! It wasn’t ideal. I wrote to the hotel on the Sunday two days after our visit which was one week ago and I’m yet to get a response on this which I think is pretty poor. It was a disappointing afternoon.
Just myself dining. Ordered drinks (Gin and Tonic and a water) that didn't arrived until 5 minutes after my main (didn't have a starter). Having ordered the Ribeye steak, it was tough and very gristly with sweet potato that were not very warm at all. The waiter asked if something was wrong with my food. I pointed out the faults to which he apologised. After a glance at the dessert menu I ordered the Cheesecake. It didnt come. Two other members of staff asked if there was anything else I would like/if I would like to see the dessert menu and both times I pointed out I had ordered the cheesecake. Approx 25 minutes later, still no cheesecake and I asked to pay and speak to the manager. The waiter asked the manager to remove the cheesecake from my bill and then the manager scarpered off without speaking to me. the most disappointing £36.05 meal I've ever had
