To my surprise, the server, Kevin, handed me menus and told me that it was their happy hour, all drinks, tap beers and appetizers were half priced. I had no trouble finding a parking spot on E. North Ave. I ordered spring rolls ($8 ), one beef and one shrimp, and a Lakefront IPA, ($6) on tap. The spring rolls arrived within 10 minutes. These rolls were huge! More than a meal for one. Served with a house peanut sauce. The overstuffed spring rolls were fresh and filled with fresh vegetables, shrimp and beef and were both very tasty, I had half the order to go. I ordered the Red Thai Curry ($12) with beef. Having never tasted Black Rice, I decided to try it. The diner arrived right on time. Again I was impressed by the portions of the Red Curry and the mound of Black Rice with a bit of a crunch and a faint nutty taste This was a welcome addition to the extra large bowel of Red Thai Curry filled with "Grass fed beef", bamboo shoots, bell peppers and carrots, topped with a large sprig of Thai Basil. This dish was just a bit spicy, not too hot. The heat was just right and didn't overpower the rich flavor of the broth and fresh crisp vegetables in the Red Curry. Overall, I couldn't more highly recommend Buddha Lounge for anyone who loves Thai food. But the thing that will bring me back is the variety of offerings from Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Sushi and even some American items. The attentive service, and authentic flavors. were capped off by an offering of a piece of Godiva Chocolate!

Entering the Buddha Lounge is an experience! Love the low and colorful lighting. Greeted by life size Chinese statues, the red themed décor with steel accents, was a pleasant surprise! Immediately greeted and seated in the dining room, on a cold December night. Lots of TV's lining the wall of the lounge featured sporting events. I had the Red Curry and was amazed at the portions! Huge is an understatement. Delicious doesn't adequately describe the flavor. Having had this dish at many other local restaurants, I can say, this by far is the best! Filled with an abundance of vegetables, with bamboo shoots, assorted bell peppers and Thai basil. Red curry includes carrots, and Grass Fed Beef. I had the option of rice side: white, brown or black, the server explained the various types, I never had black rice, so I selected it. The huge portion of rice was delicious, a crunchy black "Husk" with a burst of robust rice flavor. All in all, it was my good fortune to arrive before 7:00pm, to my surprise, all appetizers were half priced as were a good selection of Micro-brewed taps and rail drinks. The Pot Stickers appetizer we selected were seared rather than the optional standard steamed, were ample and delicious with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. All in all, I regret driving past this gem too many times. The menu is a one page delight with a variety of selections from Chinese, Thai, American and Sushi specials This is a go to restaurant to bring the gang, family or just your appetite. You will be pleased!
