To make matters worse, after bragging to a friend about the village potatoes, they were a huge disappointment and to add $4 for 1/8 of a pepper, 1/10 of an onion and less than 1 slice of cheese is an insult. Most likely my last visit. Diamond grill or dominion for me from now on I guess.
Your typical 'greasy spoon '. Local hangout. Ate dinner here and was sick all night. The fish was still frozen had to send it back. Homemade soup was watery.
I’ve visited this restaurant multiple times and have had some disappointing experiences, mainly due to the confusion with the service. Today was no exception. To make matters worse, after raving to a friend about the village potatoes, I was really let down. Paying $4 for just a tiny amount of pepper, a small piece of onion, and less than a morsel of cheese feels like an insult. I think this will be my last visit; from now on, I’ll stick to Diamond Grill or Dominion.
The restrooms were filthy. I took my little girl to one and found barely any soap left in the dispenser and no paper towels, even though it was quite early in the day. The toilets... I don’t even want to describe them. I tried to use another restroom near the back terrace, and although there were supplies there, it was even dirtier than the first, so I opted to leave that to my imagination. The highlight of my visit was when a food prep worker walked out through the back door of the kitchen, and I overheard him say that he should probably invest in paper-covered straws since his hair was touching the drinks he was preparing. At that point, it wasn’t amusing at all. The décor was unappealing, giving the place a dingy atmosphere with a desperate attempt to be trendy. Now, let’s talk about the prices. For two adults and two children who ordered the usual—fries, burgers, grilled cheese, salads, a split small chocolate shake, and two adult waters? (And the 5 and 6-year-olds wouldn’t eat the grilled cheese or fries, which are their favorites) We ended up paying $68 before tipping the server, who deserved it since she was friendly and hardworking. When I heard the total, my jaw dropped. I would have rather spent that money anywhere else—like at Tim Hortons, Subway, or Dairy Queen—where I know I’d get consistent quality. As we were leaving, we walked out the back door to the parking lot and saw the same employee who had made the straw comment smoking right outside. At this point, with kids in tow, it just added to the entire unfortunate experience. It’s a shame because the location and the size of the place, including the terrace, have immense potential to succeed with the right management. I hate being the bearer of bad news; I really wish I had known better. Buyer beware!
A great spot for breakfast or brunch in the city. The service is decent, though it can get busy with limited staff. The food is consistently good, but wait times can range from 15 to 50 minutes depending on how many items you order. They offer a fantastic menu with plenty of options, including special selections for seniors and kids. Prices are reasonable, and portion sizes are generous. There are plenty of seats, making it a great place for families and groups.
