We had Pad Thai and Massaman Curry, both with chicken. Tea is served in unique English teapots and the open kitchen adds to the authenticity and the aroma.
This is the best place for dinner in Minden. My family has gone here regularly for the past 6-8 years and the food is always fantastic. The Pad Thai and Apple Salad are particularly delicious! We have had out share of great meals here, some made particularly memorable by seeing some Fat ****.... And some other Canadian celebrities!
Don't let the decor fool you, this is a nice Thai restaurant. Panang Curry was great! As was the seafood soup.
For up here, I guess their food is pretty good. The decor is great it has lots of antiques. When I went there was only one cook and there seemed to be no prep done. She cut everything up and it was incredibly slow. The food tasted good but the portions were very small. If you are from this area and have no other options then it is a good place.
Who would have thought that the best Thai food I have eaten in months would be in little Minden! The restaurant does not look like a typical Thai place for example, the entrance is through an antiques store. (The little hand written warning signs also have their charm, e.g., No outside food and drings! We chose to eat outside on the porch, looking on the river. (There are two tables on the porch, and a few in the screened in porch, in addition to the seating inside. Our server was friendly without being at all obnoxious, and easily answered all our questions. Throughout the meal, the service was great! We ordered a couple of appetizers shrimp spring rolls and Satay chicken, all served piping hot. The spring rolls were good, but the Satay was absolutely phenomenal! Served with freshly made peanut sauce, I could have eaten another order or two. I also liked the little cucumber salad served with the Satay refreshing but with a kick of spiciness! Our main dishes didn 't disappoint. One of my friends got the Pad Thai I didn 't try it, but he claims he is particular about his Pad Thai, and that likes the one served here. My other friend had the chicken green curry she enjoyed it, and I sampled it too, and thought it was one of the best green curries I have tried. She commented on the generous portion of chicken. I had the vegetable curry, and asked for tofu to be included (as that 's not standard . The curry was yellow (I think , and full of veggies: cauliflower, potato, carrots, green beans, onion, squash, zucchini. All seemed fresh, and cooked perfectly. The spice was mild but the taste was amazing! We also were given a nice amount of rice to accompany our curries. I ate more than I probably should have (ok, definitely more than I should have! and still had leftovers that will feed me for lunch tomorrow. Prices were reasonable dishes were about what I 'd expect at a mid level Toronto Thai restaurant, or a bit less. I wish this place weren 't quite so far away from where I live ... but I am glad that my friends have a cottage here!
