Had friends in from out of town and wanted a restaurant that combined good food with entertainment. Chose the Dakota. Food was excellent, not the same boring supper club choices, and entertainment was the best. Server helpful, drinks were great, just could not say enough good about our evening.
The music was great. But the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered 4 different entrees, and only liked the hamburger and fries. And even then, we ordered mushrooms with our hamburger at an additional cost and received two! We each paid twenty dollar cover charge, and two of us had obstructed view of the pianist. I may be back for the music, but not for the food.
The food was just ok nothing special. The service was beyond bad. We waited over 20 minutes to order a bottle of wine, another 20 minutes for it to arrive. Our food actually came out before the wine did. The salt and pepper we asked for never came and we finally got it from another waiter. Our wait assistant was the saving grace, shimming the table, checking on water, delivering the wine (finally) and finding the waitress twice. For us, Connie Evingson and Sam Miltich were the draw and they did not disappoint. I'd come back again to hear them in spite of the bad service.
Great music last night. Food iand drinks are pricey but surprisingly good for a music venue. Service was friendly and attentive.
