They have a wide selection of frozen foods, including dumplings, fish cakes, and tofu, as well as a large array of sauces—I was pleased to find Yamasa shoyu there! You'll find plenty of fresh vegetables, a diverse range of instant noodles, spices, snacks, and beverages. Additionally, there’s a Hawaiian fast food restaurant and a gift shop inside. The checkout process was quick and the cashiers were very efficient. Plus, parking is convenient in the back.
United noodles is somewhere I have been going for the past 3-4 years. It has become really the only asian grocery store I go to. The inside isn't necessarily beautiful but it's a lot cleaner than most Asian grocery stores. As a child I went to almost every single one in Minnesota since my mother is Korean and enjoyed making different Asian dishes. United doesn't have that super funky fish smell that a lot of other Asian grocery stores do either. They have a pretty good variety of things and I can usually find what I'm looking for. I also enjoy their little gift shop! I think it has a good selection of cooking tools and cute fun gifts. I do wish their candy snack section was a little larger but it's not too bad. I do enjoy their banh mis that they sell right when you walk in, it's a nice little treat! The staff is friendly and I never have to wait too long in the line!
I recently returned to Minnesota and have been exploring the new food markets and culinary scene. I was glad to see that United Noodle is still in the same location. Unfortunately, when I visited, I quickly noticed that the selection has decreased significantly, and the prices—wow, just wow! I understand that the pandemic has made shipping and product availability more challenging and costly, but after comparing prices with other large markets in St. Paul, Burnsville, and elsewhere, I found United Noodle to be overly expensive. It’s no longer worth my while to shop there regularly. I might still go there for a specific Japanese item that’s hard to find elsewhere, but with the limited Japanese inventory, there isn't much to justify the trip. I really hope they can adjust these prices soon; as things start to return to normal, consumers are tired of businesses using the pandemic as an excuse for high costs. Just a heads up, the two-star rating reflects my concerns about the high prices and the reduced Japanese product selection.
I was responsible for making egg rolls for a holiday gathering and needed some Asian ingredients. Unfortunately, the produce selection was quite limited, and I was surprised to find no Thai chili peppers available. The layout of the building was somewhat large and confusing to navigate. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I think I prefer Sun Foods for my egg roll supplies. On a positive note, the checkout process was quick and efficient.
This is my go-to Asian grocery store whenever I need something quick. It's near my house and has it all from different countries all over east and south east Asia. Their only downside is that it's expensive in comparison to other Asian grocery stores in the area. I still come here as it's very clean, organized and easy to shop. I recently came back from Japan and Korea and was pleased to find some of the snacks from there. The Royal milk tea bag with little packets was $2 in Japan and $10 here, but I understand that importing products is pricey. It's good to know I can just stop here if I'm ever having a craving for one of those things, however I don't see myself shopping here for all my needs. Just selected special items.
