Today my wife and I had the opportunity to experience a new restaurant, nestled in the heart of Mississauga not far from the hustle and bustle of Square One. We had heard that this Italian gem was under new management and thought we would give it a try. From the outside, Grano Restaurant is fairly non descript. A neon sign hanging in the window let's you know they are OPEN. Parking is available nearby. But once inside, you are immediately transported into a cozy, quaint and intimate setting. Your palette immediately senses that you are in for a treat. From the first encounter with the staff, you can see that customer service is very important and you are treated like family. The waiter and maitre'd who looked after us were not only courteous and smiling, but they made valuable wine and meal recommendations to us. The menu is classic Italian...no East Side Marios here, not even a kids menu...there has to be someone's Italian grandmother cooking in the kitchen the food is so authentic. My wife had the beef tenderloin medallions, cooked to perfection while I stuck with my usual vitello parmigiana and penne. Paired with some tasty dry red wine recommended by the maitre'd and fresh baked Italian bread, the meal was amazing. While we didn't indulge in the home made desserts, the ones we saw at nearby tables looked very good. We are definitely going to be repeat customers at this restaurant. It was well worth the trip to Mississauga!
I posted the same review on yelp! The ambiance was cool I understand the whole dim lighting and tight spot. The service was okay and food came out pretty quick but I don't think it had much flavour. It tasted pretty bland to me but wasn't bad that I couldn't eat it. Maybe next time I would try something else off of the menu instead.
Had a great dinner and experience at Grano for Valentine's Day! Our waiter Dave was amazing and extremely knowledgable about the menu and wine list. If you're looking for great Italian food this is the place to go!
Family owned and operated, great food and absolutely wonderful service. SO and I go here a few times a year, usually on our special occasions or when we're craving for great Italian food. It's a small spot, maybe ~30 seats max. Def call ahead for reservations, esp if you've got a group bigger than 4 or if you plan on dining on a weekend (Fri, sat).Food - wise, I'm a huge fan of their seafood pasta, and their gnocci with gorgonzola sauce. I also order the osso bucco when it's offered. For dessert, I'd recommend the Fantasy but they don't offer it all the time.
