The Depot - Missoula

This restaurant was amazing. I ordered shrimp and fries with four chicken tenders on the side for $45. The food was excellent, three stars only because of the high price of the meal. It was a bit ridiculous.

Our experience at The Depot last night was disappointing. Despite having fond memories of their prime rib and steaks from years ago, our recent visit was anything but special. It was my partner's birthday and I was hoping for a memorable meal, but the service was slow and the restaurant was not even busy. We waited 45 minutes for our meal, only to find out that salads were not included in the price. The bill came to $95 for two steaks, two carrots, and two waters, which I found to be quite steep for what we received. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to The Depot in the future.

The Depot consistently does a fantastic job. I have been coming here for 25 years and always have an unforgettable experience. The blackened prime rib is exceptional, and the service is attentive and delightful. The wine and drinks flow, and the food is always top-notch. I feel appreciated every time I visit.

Inadmissible summaries of our experience in the depot yesterday evening. my wife and I have tried to find a nice, quiet place to eat for our date night. when we arrived, the lounge area was about half full. it was pretty loud that we were so empty, but we decided to give him a shot. the waitress was nice enough, but obviously she had more tables than she could. our drink went empty several times and it was over 30 minutes before we even placed our main court order. the appetizers came out and were extremely different. the calamari was edible, but not large, and the chicken pliers were over cooked and the quality was not good. then some big tables appeared. Remember that this is a rather expensive place, and when the incredibly cramped “dining room” was filled to the capacity, it was so loud that my wife and I had to speak loudly right into any other ohr. not quite the experience they are looking for when they pay $50 per plate. at this point our waitress had passed 3 or 4 times from the nearby tables without checking us. we have ordered our main dish to give the above, and it was 30 minutes before a manager or other waiter came by and checked for us. the $48 “filet” was a low content cut and nothing special. it came with a tiny side of kartoffels and nothing else. if they wish an expensive and bad quality meal, bad service and a dipping-like atmosphere, then that is their place.

Classy place with a rushed atmosphere. I’ve had better steaks at streamline restaurants. Slow down, focus on the customer, and serve great food.
