Due to long weekend, the restaurant had a 2 course roast for $35 per head - very good value and terrific venue. Situated overlooking the Murray River and beautiful location and great part of our history.
Absolutely amazing venue, for weekend stay & Wedding reception. The Wedding party stayed here last weekend. The Homestead, first settled in 1843, has so much History & artefacts. Situated on the Murray River at Moama NSW just over the Echuca Victoria border. The Homestead is old, desperately needing the love & restoration from it's new owners Trevor & Anastasia. It has beautiful rooms and clean comfortable beds, amazing views and fascinating antique artefacts everywhere you look.Yesteryear echoes throughout this magnificent home, the laundry with its ice chest, treadle sewing machines and cement troughs, staff quarters, Butlers Pantry, Formal Dining room, Billiard Room, Lounge room are located on the , beautifully tiled or rustic timbered ground floors, with high ceilings, & staircase. Upstairs, the Master Bedroom, was ideal, bright large enough for the Bridal Party, hairdresser, beautician, and photographer.Drawbacks, only one toilet and Bathroom upstairs, not practical these days for the use of all guest rooms and guest accommodated upstairs. The property has many of the old buildings, stables, sheds, citrus groves all remnants of its majestic past. Many of the rooms and facade were restored and decorated for the Movie, Where the Rivers Run, starring Sigrid Thornton and John Waters 1983.The Shed, reception and function Centre, once the packing shed, for 60,000 cartons of fruit produced in the Perricoota Orchards about 1920, was a stunningly beautiful setting for the 130 Formally dressed Wedding guests.
It's been 18 months since our last visit and review. Not much has changed. Very slow service, not enough staff. 1 1/2 hours to get meal and you have to walk up to the bar to get drinks. All while charging prices fit for full...More
Pericoota Station - AccommodationWe recently went for a two night stay at this amazing property for the past 20 years I've admired this homestead whilst skiing the river and we finally got to stay here. The entrance to the Station is absolutely beautiful and the gardens surround the front of the property look truly like a beautiful park. We had a group of 5 couples and two singles staying so there were plenty of sleeping options for us. The rooms all had very comfortable bedding with crisp clean sheets, towels and bathroom amenities. The space was perfect for our large group that wanted to share time together and cook up a storm. I personally did not make the booking but I believe that the communication etc was perfect in organising what we needed. There is a large kitchen with almost all that you need large double oven, microwave and dishwasher. The dining room was huge and certainly looked good once dressed upSadly the bathrooms are in desperate need of repair which I believe will be happening very soon. The billiard room was nice with very comfy leather lounges, tv and sound system. There was also a lovely lounge area to relax in. Outside there is an inground pool that was spotless, note no solar heating so you certainly need a warm day to swim. The outlook from this area over the Murray is truly magical. The lawns scope down to the Murray and they have a pontoon area with a table a a couple of chairs which was a lovely space to enjoy some drinks. We did have an amazing time staying at this truly magnificent property. Now the not so great.......I felt that Pericoota Station is not quite ready for guests in all aspects just yet and quit a few items need attention. I'm sure the new owners have great plans for this property but in the meantime feel it's overpriced by possibly a couple of hundred. I won't bore you with all the things ha that need attention but I'm happy to chat via inbox for those wanting to know.
We were visiting from Melbourne and stumbled upon this gem. We drove along the palm lined driveway to the restaurant and were warmly greeted by the owner & staff on the front steps. Upon entering I was overwhelmed with the venue - beautifully decorated but respecting the history. We wandered out to the deck for a couple of icy cold drinks (it was a 35 degree day) and then sat at an inside table for an hour or so. Whilst there we asked to see the menu and chatted to staff about accommodation in the homestead. They were very happy to give us info and a look at the menu. All staff were very friendly & helpful, the packing shed is gorgeous, it has river views & icy cold beer. Not to mention the added touch of a sleepy cattle dog at the bar. Loved it - we will be back!!
