Bauer's Downtown Gastropub - Modesto

We had the vinha d' ahlos Portuguese wings hot, Pao de queijo popovers and El Chicharron burger. The burger was the star of the meal. The quality and preparation of the meat shone thru all of the ingredients into a well balanced and constructed burger.I appreciate the eclectic menu and tap list in a place that is frankly unassuming from the outside. It is one of the mostnotable places we have been to since moving to California.

I?ve been here several times. The food and the service is always excellent. Great place to grab a drink and some delicious food.

At $20-30 per person, Bauer's is definitely worth the price. It is one of the top dining options in Modesto! The Octavian Nachos are consistently amazing and a must-try.

I called in advance to reserve a table at the restaurant. They assured me they had one available and would hold it for us. It only took us 5 minutes to arrive, and they seated us at the bar while waiting for a table to free up. Unfortunately, they did not ask us if we wanted a drink. An hour later, they finally seated us at a dirty table. After waiting for 2 hours, we still had not received our food. Overall, the service was lacking and not satisfactory.

We stopped here at 1 pm on a Friday during a road trip because it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Every staff member we met was extremely friendly and greeted us with a warm smile. The food was amazing, and we are already planning to stop here again on our next trip down south.
