La Morenita - Modesto

There are certainly better choices for Mexican food in Modesto than La Mornita. And just to clarify, this is what a taco looks like—I hope you can see the difference! It's totally absurd.

The food here is exceptional, offering a unique twist on flavors that distinguishes it from traditional Cal-Mex cuisine. The carnitas are prepared in a red sauce rather than just being caramelized, which caught me off guard at first. However, when I tried them in a burrito with green sauce, the blend of red and green alongside the pulled pork was absolutely delicious! The wedding chicken is another dish that might surprise you if you’re not expecting it. The cream sauce isn’t your typical Italian-style; it has a tangy taste (likely made with sour cream) and a hint of spiciness, complemented by the unexpected addition of cotija cheese. I really appreciate the flavor combinations, and the chicken is incredibly moist. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, and the staff is very friendly. They also have a cocktail menu available.

I always have a great time at this restaurant! The service is outstanding, and the food is delicious and consistently high quality. I particularly enjoy sitting in the bar area; the drinks are amazing!

Walked in after not going here for awhile and only saw a few people inside. This place used to be packed. Ordered food to go and tried to explain to them several times my order. They couldn't understand me I guess. Went over my order again when i was paying and they didn't listen to my order just made it the way they always make it. So I had to call and go back over. They said oops gave me the wrong order. No they didn't the tacos they had waiting for me were still not the way I asked for them. So again I had to wait for them to make it again. I get home 2 minutes later and the food is cold. So I guess I will go back to El Rosal from now on.

So good 10 out of 10 defnentally recommend. The staff are super fast, always smiling and always kept our cups filled. It's so packed every time we go because of how good it is! by the way the wedding sauce in the wedding chicken burrito is bommm and the restaurant is always clean and the mood is always good, nobody is ever rude either! you have to try this place ASAP!!! P.S they decorate the restaurant so nice.
