Two of our party of three had serious problems with the quality of food before...ours. We informed the waitress when she came back. I ordered venison goulash with late zle and red cabbage. The cabbage was mixed, dry and unlusty. Absolutely not seasonal, so disappointing, simply unacceptable. I had homemade and homemade glasses of red cabbage and it is ALWAYS yummy. What they put on my plate was a further cry of the shiny kindness that I have eaten in Germany for 15 years. The Goulash had mushrooms that the waitress tried to tell us were fresh. These soggy brown blobs were just insulting. What my Venison had a decent taste at eating a little more, not one, but two pieces were stone cold in the middle. At this point I had lost all hope in this meal and called it up. You can't even use microwave right in this device. Improperly heated foods are dangerous. My German sister-in-law had a forgotten mushroom cup, which was served in prison with tasteless French fries. She is an experienced mushroom hunter and wonderful cook, so this is especially galling for her. The waitress offered us another duck or apple strudel, but I didn't trust the kitchen at this point and just wanted to go. Forest house is not a good choice if you have tasty farewell, value for money, truth in advertising and take care of food treatment and preparation.
We were a party of 8 from Tunbridge Wells, England, and we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly, and Daniel the waiter took care of us as well as the cook and the young waitress at breakfast time. The food was... excellent, the staff even printed a translation of the menu for us. The rooms were nice and comfortable, with lovely shower. I would stay here again and hope to do this in the near future.
We found this hotel via TripAdvisor and weren't disappointed. We had room 9, which has a HUGE bed, and a high tech shower in the en suite. It is at the back, so away from the (quiet at night) road, but had the use of...a balcony overlooking lovely views across the lake, so win-win! The meals in the restaurant was excellent, and good value. Try the wild boar goulash if it's on!The typical German breakfast didn't disappoint, apart from the tea, but that's normal in Europe. The coffee however is excellent. They speak some, but not much, English. Daniel the waiter/barman looked after us very well during our stay The drive into the car park is steep, but we managed without problems with our (low) MX5. Bikes are available for those energetic enough to want to tackle the 40km ride around the lake. They have E bikes for the less energetic! The main purpose for our visit was to see the dam, but the whole area is lovely.
This was an overnight stay on the way to Czech Republic, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was lovely with a great view over the Mohnesee, and reasonably priced the food was great including breakfast. We have booked back in on the...return trip to UK We chose this guesthouse to stay at because it is dog friendly.
Schwer enttäuscht von dem Essen, alles aus der Packung und dazu nicht grade günstig. Wir kommen definitiv nicht wieder.
