In contrast, the Blueberry Cheesecake we ordered had a very tough crust. I'd go back for the savory pies. The filling was flavorful and just right (it didn't overpower the delicate crust). The crust was flaky up top, and held it's shape (despite the hot stuffing) without being tough as boards. Go for the Pie Set Meals (with Mashed Potatoes and Coleslaw) if you want to get filled, but for a light snack/meal, just go ala carte on the Savory Pies.
It was a normal day for me in BF. I haven't really noticed The Pie Kitchen before because it's in a very cozy corner next to Pitong Daan Village. I thought I could try this out. Being a well travelled person I have tried tons of authentic pies. Most specially Australian and New Zealand Pies. So I knew what I wanted. I parked my car in front and I was already greeted by the shops wonderful staff. The ambiance of the place was very light and relaxing. The service was exceptional. Now, the only thing on my mind as of that moment was how the pies tasted. I did not want to be dissapointed. It took about less than 10 minutes for my food to arrive. I ordered a Chicken Leek Pie and Blueberry Cheesecake. Presentation was great I also love that they include Coleslaw and Fries. I took a bite from my Cheesecake first because it called to me. I have never had real Cheesecake anywhere here in BF but i was very surprised that they make it. Real cream cheese soothes your palate while the full berries burst in your mouth. It was an experience. After devouring the Cheesecake for a few seconds I was hesitating to eat the Pie. I've had a ton of pies here in the Philippines but they never really come close. They also usually cost about P250-P400. So I wasn't very hopeful for a Pie that only costs P130. I slowly cut into the pie and found that the texture and build was surprisingly similar to the Pies I've had in Australia. After the first bite I was awestruck that it tasted like I bought this from the outback. I asked if they import the pies and was very surprised that they make it in that cozy shop. This place all in all a very good find. I spent about P380 for lunch. I would gladly spend more. Will most definitely be coming back.
This is where Grandad's Grill and Deli was once located if I remember it right. I ordered tiramisu which is 175 pesos per slice but I find it too expensive for it's quality. I also had a pie for 135 pesos which is steep because it taste totally plain. There is a 5% service fee when you dine in. The place is very small I overheard one lady saying "10 oclock na" and then turned off the a/c. The thing is, I just started drinking the coffee I ordered a few minutes ago. The attitude was distasteful so I just hurriedly finished my food, paid the bill and left. For me there are better places to spend your hard earned money. Not recommended.
A newly opened "cafe." Ambiance is very cozy, a small little corner cafe that you'd find along Aguirre Avenue. They serve sorts of pies (think sheperds pie; from savory to sweet pies) for an affordable price (₱120-160!). Good place for breakfast or an afternoon snack (horay for serving good coffee and not instant ones) but not recommendable for dinner since they only serve light menu as of the moment.
