Courte Paille - Mondeville

Had a great meal here with friends, the quality of the food was superb, the service excellent and the ambience great as well. Would happily eat here again.

Over recent years we have become fans of Courtpaille having used them in various parts of France. So we were looking forward to trying this one. But we were disappointed, both our main courses were below standard and prices are gradually increasing. We shall have to think twice whether to use them in the future.

We visited this restaurant at Mondeville 2 Caen with a Groupon offer which was Buy one steak and chips get another for one Euro. To good to be true, In out case it was, My Entrocote steak was tough, grissly and I had to leave a lot of it on the plate, the chips were OK and plenty of them the only trouble being they ended up almost cold because ei spent too much time chewing the steak! They make up the price by charging you 3.50 Euros for a glass of Coca Cola Light. We were not impressed. The service at lunchtime was very quick.

Tired after driving for several hours, I decide to have an easy dinner at the steakhouse located in the hotel. Wrong decision ... the first entrecotte ordered au point (medium done) returns to the chef for a second grill. Once back, I discover it is so nervouse and wrongly cooked, to make it impossible to eat. Second choice: pavè of rumpsteak. After a long wait, it arrives: good cut, but again, grilled with superficiality. The all, seasoned with a gloomy service. The place needs to be completely re projected....
