Monroe is home to many national and local/regional chain restaurants, and those are (mostly good but not great. It's also the home to many small mom and pop type places, and some of them have better food savvy, palate sophistication, and restaurant business sense than others. Then there's Adam's. Adam's is obviously owned and operated by foodies. Foodies with talent, experience, and well trained palates. The dishes here are tasty, well executed, and with a touch of sophistication in every plate. They serve a wide range of foods, from elevated comfort foods to more sophisticated offerings (duck anyone? . Everything we have tasted so far here has been great. The only issue we have had with the food is the desserts featuring caramelized sugar. Someone in the kitchen has a heavy hand with the torch, and the sugar often ends up more on the burnt end of the caramelized to burnt spectrum. That needs work. Service is friendly, helpful, and prompt. We've had no issues with service, and have often been delighted with servers who go above and beyond. Prices are high for Monroe. (Heck, they are pretty high, even for the Seattle area. But not cutting corners and using the best ingredients is going to cost more. You either support that level of quality or you don't. Adam's does, and so do I. We are happy to have found Adam's. You will likely say the same thing once you try it.
Great food all around. We got there early to take advantage of happy hour. My meal consisted of 4 appetizers. Calamari Sliders Clams Wings All were delicious. My husband ordered the brisket only because the rib eye was sold out from the night before. Our drinks were a flight of beers The 12 Fruity mule And a Manhattan. We had to sit at the bar since it was a 45 min wait otherwise. I didn't think Monroe would be such a happening place on the weekend that I needed a reservation. Guess I know better now. All was great. Would definitely be back for another visit in hopes of trying the rib eye.
Our first time at this establishment and I can't say enough good things! From the moment we walked in, Ira was welcoming and friendly. He has this personality that lit up a room! Although the place was packed, everyone did everything possible to accommodate those who came in without a reservation. The food was out of this world delicious! I had the cornbread for starters (and yes you want to try the cornbread!!! I could have eaten that all day! Then the duck for dinner was delicious!!!! Reasonable prices and I will be back for more!!!
Although we've been here a few times before, we hadn't been here recently so stopped in for what we thought would be a great happy hour. It turns out we were right in a way... But not in other ways. It all started going downhill when we decided to order dinners, which included the Halibut dinner special and the vegetarian fresh pasta. The dinner special cost $29 and the pasta was $16. The pasta was very rich and flavorful, with mushrooms and a nice cream sauce and was very luscious, great texture.. the Halibut dinner, not so much. We did not love the onions on the fish, as we prefer lemon and tartar. It was good enough, but not for the price. The special did not include soup or a side salad, and we had to ask the server for rolls. Couscous that was served with it was unlike any we had ever had before, because it was actually crunchy. Either undercooked or not cooked with enough water. The server, who was quickly becoming obnoxious with his mannerisms and use of words, said the couscous was supposed to be al dente, and that he would try it also to check. Which he never did. So we continued quietly through the dinner, and ordered ourselves another nut brown ale, which we surmised was the best beer offering they supply.
In town for a wedding, and didn't expect to stumble upon this little gem! Wow! Is it possible that the service was ALMOST as good as the food? The bartender!!! Totally forgot his name, it seems like the ran the restaurant was the BEST. It's restaurants like this that will Keep us coming back for more! Pork shank, burger, calamari, jalapeño margarita! We fell in love instantly!!!! To top it off they gave us dessert on the house! Thank you Adam's!!!!
