We sat there for 25 minutes, waitresses walked around us and never got a drink order. I'd think about a special trip. Should have gone to High Point. She talked to the manager and everything she could say she's sorry.
I've been there twice, and each time was ify. The first time, I was on a date with my husband, and he received cold lasagna. They took his plate and microwaved it, and brought it back out to him. The second time, I was with a group, and the waitress was not having the best of days. We'd ask for something, and it was totally forgotten and never brought to us, or it was brought when we were finished with our meal.
On many visits to Monteagle and Sewanee over the years, my family and I have probably eaten at Papa Ron’s 25 times. Never again. Last night, my wife and kid arrived late. I called Papa Ron’s at 8:05 to place a take out order. I was told, rudely, by a woman who identified herself as the manager, that the only order I could place would be for pizza and that she stopped taking takeout orders at 8:30. I thanked her and told her I would call in a pizza order in 5 minutes. I tried to do that and the line was busy. I drove to Papa Ron’s, arrived at 8:20. The same lady refused to allow me to order. When I told her I had just spoken with her on the phone before driving over, she insisted there had been “an emergency in the kitchen,” so she had closed it. This was an obvious lie. When I asked her why she hadn’t answered the phone when I called back, she admitted to taking it off the hook. I suggested, politely, she could have save me a trip by answering the phone and telling me the kitchen was closed, she said “the owner told me to take the phone off the hook,” another obvious lie. I’m not sure I’ve ever been treated as rudely and with such arrogance at a restaurant. If you want friendly service and nice people, don’t dine at Papa Ron’s.
Love this place. Absolutely delicious pasta. Staff is friendly but sometimes slow when busy, seems they could use more at peak hours. Bit dated decor but that doesn't bother me, I'm there for the food. They do need more parking and leaving can be a bit scary due to trees blocking view.
I’m usually not one to even leave a review but I feel like it needs to be said that my husband and I both felt like this was a terrible experience all around. The food was extremely bland and the drinks were not made well. Also everything was very dirty. Save yourself 60$ and go somewhere else.
