When you go into the market it is full of fresh unique ingredients which make you think the deli will provide food options using the ingredients from next door. When we went to the deli, we had a very overwhelmed cashier taking our order. The menu is nondescript so it's hard to tell what anything is. We wanted an Italian sandwich so we ordered one of those. We were then asked for the meat preference and basic questions like mayo, mustard, etc. When the sandwich arrived, it was lackluster. The ingredients were stale and it just simply was not an Italian sandwich. Overall, I would not recommend going to this deli especially when there are much better options walking distance from this place.
I haven't been to Montesano Deli Market, but we've picked up lunch there a couple times while visiting Montecito. It's a newish deli owned by the same guy as Lucky's (and Lucky Brand Jeans). The food is okay. Not bad, but nothing exciting. The menu is fairly extensive, with a lot of sandwiches, salads, and other deli fare. I've tried two of the piadinas, which are Italian flatbread sandwiches, sort of halfway between a sandwich and a wrap. The Corleone was a pretty solid version of an Italian deli sandwich, with Genoa salami, capocollo, mortadella, provolone, lettuce, onion, tomato, pepperoncini, mayo, mustard, olive oil, and vinegar. The Holy Cow was a piadina with prosciutto, arugula, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, and sweet red onions, seasoned with Italian herbs and chili-infused oil. This was light on the prosciutto and, overall, on flavor. We spend enough time in Montecito that I feel like we'll order from Montesano again. I'll either stick to the Corleone or explore the non-piadina options. I may have yet to find the best thing on the menu, but I sense that this place is exactly what it seems like: a decent deli that doesn't need to blow anyone's mind.
Wow so good! I was next door getting my nails done and considering this new deli. I went for it and called in the Hero sandwich. Really delicious and best of all the service was great.Super friendly staff, clean storefront and delicious! I'll be back. Definitely on the pricey side but worth the splurge.
The Deli is great for breakfast and lunch they are open. The Ruben is awesome as is the Avocado Toast and Pastrami and eggs. The market has some wonderful hostess gifts as well as great choices of pasta, sauce, cheese and so many other great unique items.I love it!
