Stayed here for a few days. Wish we had booked more.. The food was great. We were made to feel very welcome. We had breakfast, lunch and evening meals. The lunch on Sunday was perfect. Lots of different starters to try and then the best ravioli we had ever had. Highly recommended.
Carmelo, Lina, Michele and Margherita treat you like their own family and the traditional Monteleonese cooking is the finest in town. The restaurant has a real pizza oven, get the pizza with cacciacavallo, you won't regret it. If available, try their Ciccatell e Acc', my favorite pasta dish! The location is a short a walk for the main piazza in Monteleone (uphill), you don't need to drive your car up to town.
Where to begin for Lu Stallier? Let 's start with the owners, Michele and his beautiful wife, Lina. From the moment we arrived, they took the utmost care of my husband and me. They showed us to our room, which was clean and tidy, had a private bathroom (we requested this ahead of time, so I 'm not sure if all rooms have private bathrooms or not), and was more than enough room for two people. It had a comfy queen bed as well as a twin bed, so plenty of room for a child to tag along perhaps. They asked us what time we would like dinner....and then they fed us the most delicious 4 or 5-course meal with the freshest ingredients! Lina makes everything from scratch, even her pasta, so when I say they made us delicious food, I really mean it. My husband and I are foodies and we both are of Italian descent, so we know good food when we taste it, and this meal was phenomenal. Lina cooked up a storm and Michele was our waiter. One of the best nights of our entire trip to Italy. The next morning, Lina was in the kitchen again! We told them the night before that we needed an early start...not a problem for Michele and Lina. They were up earlier than us and made sure we could eat before we headed out for our daily adventure. Lina made us eggs, cappuccino, espresso, delicious made-from-scratch breakfast pastry, etc. Again, delicious. This cycle of delicious meals continued the entire time we stayed with Michele and Lina. We were visiting some of my husband 's family in the neighboring town of Panni, which was fantastic, but by the end of the trip, I started to wish we had more time with Lina and Michele. They were truly just the nicest, most kind-hearted people my husband and I have ever met. Their warmth just pours out of them and would make any traveler feel welcome. I can 't really put into words how kind, great lovely, ad generour they are, but I have a short anecdote to share: after staying in Monteleone, we headed to the Amalfi Coast for several days and it was, of course, stunning. As we boarded our plane back to America, I turned to my husband and only one thing came to my mind to ask him, Will we ever see Michele and Lina again? After a fantastic 10 days all over southern Italy, I was most concerned with seeing our new friends again. My husband smiled and said, I hope so. I don 't know when our next trip will be, but we will most definitely be headed back to see Michele and Lina.
We dined there for a family reunion. The food was delicious and kept coming. You need patience for freshly prepared food, but it's worth the wait. Pasta was wonderful. Eggplant parmesan and roasted potatoes were highlights.
