Crab Louie's Bistro - Monterey

The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely, and the staff are very friendly. However, this review will focus solely on the oysters, which were incredibly disappointing. Oysters are one of my top three favorite foods, and I eat them nearly every day. Generally, I enjoy all types of oysters, but these were simply unacceptable. It will take me at least a week to forget this experience. The oysters were stale and poorly prepared, making them quite unappetizing. I don’t want to exaggerate and say they were the absolute worst I’ve ever had, but they certainly rank as the second worst. Just thinking about them brings me down, but I’ll persevere. On a slightly positive note, I did not experience any digestive issues like diarrhea. Management, please take this feedback seriously and avoid serving oysters of this quality in the future. I know you can do better.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The oysters were small and had a strange, off-putting taste, almost as if they were starting to spoil. They definitely didn't taste fresh, and I felt quite nauseous after the meal. Honestly, I wouldn't eat there again even if someone paid me—$48 for a dozen oysters is just not worth it. The seabass was undercooked as well. When they took it back to the kitchen to cook it properly, it came back just as raw. The owner had promised free calamari and soup for everyone when we arrived, but what he really meant was just one portion to share among us. It was mediocre at best. Even thinking about it, I can only give this place one star.

Service: The server was fine, but the lady outside was quite aggressive. We decided to give it a try anyway. Food: Everything is overpriced for the quality. We sampled the Halibut, Stuffed Sea Bass, Seafood Pasta, and a dozen Blue Point Oysters. The good: The Halibut was nice, and the complimentary Calamari appetizer was enjoyable. The bad: The Stuffed Sea Bass was undercooked in the middle, the pasta was lukewarm, and the oysters were quite small. Some dishes also came with rice, which was hard and had an off-putting taste. On the positive side, they did serve a complimentary Clam Chowder that was quite good, and the seafood in the pasta was decent. Overall, if you already have a favorite dish from this place, it might be worth it, as the service remains acceptable. However, if you're visiting for the first time, you might want to reconsider.

Hello everyone. I'm not trying to be biased. But from my experience of eating here. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. The lady who was outside was waving customers and said that all fish, shells and crabs are fresh from the boat. But that was all a lie, tried her special for dinner, that was Cippino and all seafood was not fresh at all! I am not an expert in fresh, but I ate enough seafood to know that it was old frozen fish and frozen seafood that they warm up for me to eat. The tomato sauce for the Cippino dish tasted sour and had a tasting. Not appetizing. The other court was lobster and steak, price at $140 or a little over. Lobster was not fresh, Steak was Blande. It was so disappointing to eat here. All I can say is that the freshest thing on her menu at night was probably her carrots and broccoli? But in order to make it better enough, our waiter and the lady who knocked down the customers outside had a middle argument during dinner. Our waiter didn't want to serve more people while they dropped more customers to come. They had a disagreement and were loud. It wasn't professional to do their guests and customers. But I don't think I'm going back because her menu and speciality was a lie. FROZEN FOOD!

Not recommend to anyone! Seafoods are not fresh, most likely frozen foods. Offered free calamari and it was just a tiny dish with like 3 pieces in it. Waiter keep saying the oysters are fresh off the boat. This is the most plain tasted oysters I ever had. It has no taste at all. If you are not looking. You probably not gonna know what you are eating. The fish in the Cioppino is also not fresh. First time I had a Cioppino that is very fishy tasted. The steak we have was medium rare and the meat is very tough. Service is ok. Magarita also tasted weird.
