We had a great time wine tasting here. The wines we tasted were so good and the staff helping us, Caroline and Lilly, were amazing, sweet and very informative. We will definitely be coming back here the next time we are in Carmel.
Awesome place with great wine! Can sit inside or outside. Can order food from nearby and will deliver it to your table
Yesterday, my two retired racing greyhounds I spent the best 2 hours tasting wine and talking about adopting retired racing greyhounds at the Scratch Wines tasting room in Carmel. Lilly was behind the bar pouring in front of the bar loving on the furboys. The wines were great too. The owner head winemaker is apparently an overachiever who also makes wine for Wrath and for Kori locally. My hat is off to her! I need to try the other two wineries now. While I greatly prefer reds over whites, Scratch has a couple very good whites they're pouring right now. A sparkling Chardonnay and a very nice Riesling, plus a drinkable rose (I struggle with roses . The Scratch 2014 Pinot Noir is the bomb, and their 2015 Grenache and 2016 Cab will be excellent with a year or two of aging. I only wish the art gallery was open when we visited. I guess that means I'll have to return. ; PS the label art chosen for Scratch is pretty fantastic too! Update June 2021 Visit: My oldest daughter and I visited the new Carmel Valley Tasting Room on Father's Day with my hounds, of course! Lilly remembered and welcomed us all to the beautiful new space with fantastic seating options inside and out. Sabrine Rodem (the proprietor and winemaker extraordinaire did a fantastic job setting up this tasting room to showcase her very tasty selection of wine. Lilly was pouring a sparkling white and a sparkling rose that are perfect for warm weather, and Sabrine's reds were a joy to finish the tasting with. Carmel and Carmel Valley are beautiful places to visit with or without your dog(s . Lilly and the tasting room staff make everyone feel like old friends, and that includes the furry four legged visitors. Do yourself a favor and visit Scratch in their new Carmel Valley location. I know you'll enjoy it! I enjoyed it so much, I joined the wine club. I'll be back often.
Cool vibe, friendly staff and the best wines around. Nice open environment and dog friendly.
