Good Ancho, good morcilla, good chorizo and good fries. I was worried about being disappointed with the meat at the mercado, or about paying tourist prices, but neither was true this was a great experience with very good food at good prices for the tourist nature of the location. I had several steaks while in Montevideo and the beef I had at Don García was among the best. The atmosphere was lively and entertaining as well.
Great place to try some traditional food. I tried chivito and it was ok, but fairly expensive also.
Stuffed pepper good. Waiter nice. Prices charged were a little higher than on the menu. Also, not clear at all that they didn't take Visa (every other place in the Montevideo does), which made us pay exchange rate cash and miss out on the 18% discount. It was clearly a plot to take advantage of tourists, as this info was on every menu except the English version. Go to one of the many other options in the market and be treated fairly.
Excellent babybeef. the side of the Russian salad was quite bad, but who cares if they have 450 grams of delicious steak? very good service and they accept mastercard. tipp for tourists: they pay with a foreign credit card and they should automatically control (22%! off from their bill (at least in the januar 2018, but apparently it has been one thing and could remain so. and if they were satisfied with the service, they can ask to add the tipp for the waiter to them credit card bill if they spend it to pay.
