Auberge de L'Eclade

What a dreadful meal we have just had at Auberge de l'Eclade under its new management. I had previously dined here on many occasions and had found it a pleasant place to eat with reasonable food and service. Nothing could have prepared me for tonight's...experience: firstly, the restaurant now has very bright fluorescent lighting without a dimming system so it is very harsh for evening dining. There were no set menus so we ate from the carte. The first course was a raw egg sitting in a warm gaspatcho with shards of Palma ham which had been cooked so that the grease had run through the soup and egg. It was really unpleasant. The other starter was a tasteless cavier of aubergine with lashings of whipped cream which was supposed to be goats curd. It was bland and tasteless. The main salad perigordine was so salted that it was inedible. Once again it was swilling in grease. I had a steak. It was huge and for a transport cafe might have been a commendable item on the menu. It was also over seasononed and served without any vegetables. Two dishes for one person amounted to euros (the same price as a beautiful meal at L'un des Sens in Villefranche) which is Michelin standard in a beautiful setting. The service at l'aclade was poor, plus after sending the salad perigordiane back, my mother was not offered an alternative until I had almost finished my meal by which time it was too late. The prices at this restaurant were those of fine dining, but the food, service and experience was not. I would not recommend.

My wife and I attended this restaurant recently and we were completely blown away by the style, choice, and quality of the experience. The food was literally the best we have experienced in France. Service was swift and friendly. This was a fantastic trip. Can't...wait to go again.

My wife and I had our wedding anniversary lunch here. I left a review when we visited in January when it was under different ownership. The food then was excellent. Under the new owners I honestly believe it's even better. We decided to...have the menu de jour which consisted of a a Rillette of Sardine for a starter followed by Skate Wing in Citrus Buerre Blanc with a rasher of bacon and mashed potato with pine nuts. Dessert was pear poached in spiced red wine. The food was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The staff are friendly and efficient and the surroundings very pleasant with a nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a fantastic meal here. The service was impeccable and the food was just incredible. I had the confit de canard and it was cooked to absolute perfection. You must try the assiette tout de chocolat- what a treat. A plate of the best...chocolate desserts!

We were taken once to the restaurant previously run by this charming couple (l’Artenset), and our friends who have ‘followed’ them around assured us that this meal would be every bit as good. They were right. The chef has great culinary flair, and the presentation...and service ensured that we had a most agreeable evening. Can’t wait to be taken back there. (Hint, hint).
