Almost. Amir is just steps away from Boustan and although the food at Amir is quite delicious, unfortunately it cannot be comparable to the absolute masterpieces at Boustan. I think everything in the end came down to execution. The flavours and components are still the same but everything was just a little off balance. I've ordered Sharwarma pitas from both Boustan and Amir and Amir's unfortunately just doesn't make it in my books. Pitas aren't grilled to quite the warm crispness, salads too chilled for the warm meat, meat a tad too grainy and dry, too much garlic sauce and runny hummus and the pieces of crunchy beets were almost too large to chew. I'm nit-picking the details here so do not get the wrong impression. The food at Amir is still really good, it is simply when you make direct comparisons to similar Lebanese joints that you can see a difference.
Average quality shawarma. taste is bland. not quite the ones they get in Britain or Europe. not in comparison to the Middle East, as it is gone. the prizes are okay.
The worst we ever had. the current owners of this amir franchise location should not be in the restaurant business! for beginners, the girl at the money was dissatisfied/confusing and spoke neither a word of English nor understands. ridiculous, that is. downtown montreal, catering for millions of tourists every year. most important was eating in this amir completely inedible. we flew to the garbage. a complete waste of money. my schish taouk sandwich consisted of hard pita brot and dry meat. terrible. the garlic sauce was disgustingly sour tasting. the falafel were not better, did not definitiw fresh, they were stale and dry. even the salat on the falafel plate was not edible, waaayy too much edgy and to complete everything, the bathroom was really dirty, the floor flooded with water. on the way out I have said my shock about how disgusting our 2 meals were, and instead of any kind of excuse or recognition, the female manager? owner? continued to argue with me and insist that her garlic sauce is the same as all amir restaurants. not by a long shot! if that were true, all Amir locations would have closed. do you like one and stay away from the amir on the new season. about the road on crescent is boustan, a much better option for schish taouk.
The man making the sandwiches had a cut on his hand still had visible blood on it) and he made the sandwich in his bare hands! He had his hands all over the bread, when adding the dressings, adding chicken, and wrapping it in...the end! He put only 2 pieces of tomato 1 slice cut in half), and only 2 pieces of turnip pickles. To top it off, he was the same person doing the cash at the cashier!! Dirty, cheap, and disgusting service. I was too shy to walk out without the sandwich, but I tossed the sandwich in the garbage! Never going back! Amir knows nothing about hygiene!
