We were welcomed by who i believe is the son of the founder of Beauty's and had the friendliest service and most delicious to-go milkshakes. I was very clearly explained the ingredients and they had dairy-free options. A Montréal institution!
How has this place been open so long?#1. The hosts and waitresses were wonderful, hence the 2 stars. Lovely attitudes for early in the morning. However, I waited 30 minutes to get the special . A smoked salmon bagel, on a bagel that was so chewy my jaw hurt, and so much cream cheese I didn 't even realize there was smoked salmon there. And that was $18.My family 's plates looked fine I guess but after a near perfect weekend in Montreal, this was a wholly disappointing way to finish.
I spent my whole life in Montreal and had always heard about Beauty's being an institution in the city, a place with a lot of history behind it. I finally gave it a try recently and I appreciated the history lesson they provided on the menu about the origins of the diner. That being said, the food was not great and super expensive. I ordered the French toast and it was pretty basic; the fruits were not in season and sour. For the price that the restaurant charges, I was hoping to get good fruits. My wife ordered a breakfast sandwich, which was just basic. She mentioned to me that it would have been better if the cheese were melted.Overall, I'm glad I've tried it but I don't think I'll be coming back to this one.
Typical diner with friendly service, food is what you’d expect from this kind of place, nothing special but it does the job, nice retro decoration and feel !
5 stars are not enough for this historic gem with delicious food and friendly staff!
