Chalet Bar-B-Q - Montréal

I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to try authentic Montreal BBQ chicken.

We have been going to this restaurant for the past 18 years, but this time was the worst experience we have ever had. The chicken was overly salty and dry, and the coleslaw was not up to par with what we are used to. It had a strong vinegar taste. Our waitress, Nelly, was very poor. She placed dirty dishes from another table on ours, among other issues. I cannot fully describe all the instances of bad service we received from her. We have always loved dining at this establishment, but today was a major disappointment.

Get ready to step back in time when you enter Chalet Bar B-Q, located at the corner of Sherbrooke St West and the Decarie expressway. The dimly lit dining area and traditional menu place mat will transport you to the nostalgia of the 50's and 60's. The food remains the same as well, with classic dishes like the Hot Chicken Sandwich and Quarter Chicken Thigh. The attentive waitress quickly served us ice cold water in plastic glasses and took our order without delay. The food was delicious and disappeared within moments. If you're looking for a taste of the past, Chalet Bar B-Q is the place to go. Street parking is difficult to find, but a free customer-only lot is available on Addington Street.

Their chicken is just amazing. The charcoal taste is present but not too intense. It 's just amazing. Because the chicken is so good I give 5 stars. Their local pickup system, dated from the 60 's, deserves 0 stars. You order, they give you a bill, then you have to go to another counter to pay, and guest what? The employee must stamp your bill with paid , and then you need to go back and show you did pay. Ridiculous in 2023. But still, will I go again? Anytime! Just improve pick up order and ze best!

Has to be some of the best roasted chicken I've had in a long time. Definitely worth the trip there.Read about them on Eater Montreal. Did not disappoint at all. Cozy, fun, and filling. A must-do in Montreal along with Schwartz's and St-Viature Bagels.
