Chez La Mere Michel - Montréal

We went there for dinner and was very impressed by the selection of fresh fish. The fresh fish is charged by weight and was worth the money. The service we received was excellent. Would definitely return there on a future trip to Montreal.

Visited Chez La Mere Michel on a cool Thursday evening. You might not think to go, as it looks like a someone's house, but that's the point. Superb menu, lovely table setting, and when I went there was only one other table occupied. I was torn between the fresh catch of the day, which was Artic Char, my second favorite fish in the world (after Ono, or Wahoo), or the foie gras appetizer, or the Magrets de Canard (duck breast). Choose the duck and I was extremely satisfied. Perfect spot for a quiet, romantic dinner. Very easy walk from the Le Centre Sheraton, where I stayed. Highly recommend this for couples, but not children.

Had a wonderful dinner in an elegant setting. Service was friendly and informative. (Thank you Marc). Food and wine were impressive. We visit Montreal annually and this place is our new favorite.

Having experienced a lot of good French restaurants in Montreal , we decided to try La Mere Michel due to so many good reviews. Well , we were disappointed for various instances : mushrooms out of a can on two different plates , Souffle au Grand Marnier [ their specialty] burned and empty , the kidney plate [ typical french plate ] : more vegetables than meat ,slow service among other things. It was a Friday night about 25 customers including our group of four , so not too busy.This restaurant may have had some good years but maybe things should be reviewed instead of relaying on the past.May try it again but way too many goods ones out there to enjoy before this one

French cuisine with a classic flair is what you get when you come to Chez la Mere Michel. Excellent Kir set the pace for a lovely dinner of Coq au vin and lamb. An excellent souffle with grand marnier rounded out our lovely dinner experience.
