Top-notch ōtoro, karaage and imported Japanese beers. Unparalleled in Montreal. Now that the dust has settled post-pandemic, this latest visit was my first dine-in experience here. The sashimi du jour showcased a great assortment of textural play in akami, hotate, flying fish and sea bass. Ōtoro was off the menu on the day but a simple inquiry sufficed to make its appearance, which needless to say, rejoiced all that were present. However, the true gem was le porc braisé spécial du jour. Indescribably succulent. For future visits, ordering will revolve exclusively around les spéciaux du jour, where lies the latest whims of the chef.
Wagyu mazemen and Uni carbonara was so good. tapas style, really small portions. Service was ok.
First time staying in Mont Royal here in Montréal and I could not rave more about my amazing experience at this restaurant. The fish was absolutely fresh and the Mapo tofu definitely topped off my experience. Service was also great, although the restaurant is on the smaller side so I recommend making a reservation in advance. : compliments to the chef! Thank you, we will return!
So the food here is quite good for Japanese /fish standard in Montreal. It's really expensive however and the service is cold. A really small bowl of chirashi and a glass of sake is $60!The waiter always seems is a bit cold when I go or I just don't feel that welcome ordering from him. I definitely feel like he doesn't want to serve you in English.I go here once in a blue moon when I have a craving for sashimi. But all in all it's only Ok place to go.
