Local Jerk - Montréal

The great thing about Montreal is you don't have to leave the country to eat amazing world wide cuisine. Local Jerk is no exception to this rule. I walked by the restaurant a few times this week thinking I really am craving some Jerk chicken. Finally today I decided to give this place a try....and boy I was not disappointed. The Jerk chicken was amazing! Fast Friendly service and decent prices....looking forward to trying the entire menu.

Who would expect to have state of the art Jamaican food in Montreal? Marline, owner and head chef, knows what she is doing. The vibe is so welcoming and friendly. We had jerk chicken with rice & peas (black beans) and chicken Roti. We were also treated to some fresh rum cake being considered for a menu addition.It was great also: subtle with just a hint of rum. Portions were enough to have later for dinner. The exotic sodas from Jamaica were tasty and unique. Restaurant is mostly for carry out with just one big picnic table for eating in. Come anyway and you'll be back again. We felt like family when we left.

The jerk chicken is really tasty and cooked perfectly. The plate came with rice with beans and coleslaw ($10.50) The portions are pretty big (I was full) The staff is very friendly. This is our new favourite spot!

Great food, well spiced. We had the chicken and the pork, both were fine. The option of coconut water was welcome, and the cucumber in the regular water was a nice touch. My only complaint was the presentation -- exclusively in styrofoam containers. Handy for take-out but as we were eating there, it would have been more pleasant to have the option of plates and real cutlery.
